Solved trovigo system wide proxy?

It's just Trovigo.. this is the second round for me. First time it popped with adobe update. I was able to stop it just by changing settings and blocking the plugin.

It came back piggy back on something that else. I uninstalled but it took my home page again. . I found that it had changed my connection type to redirect through a proxy. I removed the proxy for my connections on IE and FF and no longer get my homepage hijacked; but still get it when I open a new tab.

I have been unable to find the file that is forcing my new tabs to Trovi.com, In IE I can block the site so it will not load, but can't seem to find the same setting in FF... and I have been unable to find settings that control new tab behavior.

I used AVG (big mistake) it cleaned up threats.. so, then my sys wouldn't boot.. safe mode to hit a restore point before I loaded the AVG... I fixed the settings, uninstalled the program/activex

Now I just need to find what settings control my tab behavior..

I am running Windows Defender, it found the Adobe bundle, but I have a tb drive.. it could be a while.. I think the files that caused the issue are gone, just trying to remove the damage.

thank you.
Grace

Hi,

Before we begin, I want you to have this in mind:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
    button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

Please download zoek.zip or zoek.rar by smeenk (
Zoek_icon.png
) from here or here and save it to your Desktop.
Unpack the archive...
  • Close any open browsers
  • Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program. (If necessary)
    If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.
  • Double click on zoek.exe to run the tool .
    Please wait while the tool does not start...
  • Copy the text present inside the code box below and paste it into the large window in the zoek tool:
    NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

    Code:
    createsrpoint;
    gpt.ini;z
    C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy;v
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\GroupPolicy;v
    StandardSearch;
    emptyfolderscheck;
    installer-list;
    installedprogs;
    uninstall-list;
  • Click on
    Run%20Script%20by%20zoek.png
    button.
    Please wait until a logreport will open (this can be after reboot)
  • Save notepad to your Desktop and attach here zoek-results.log
    Note: It will also create a log in the C:\ directory named "zoek-results.log"

Okay, so the Windows defender found several ad programs.. I am rid of them. I opened IE with no add ons and it was clean. So I checked the add on list and there was an unverified microsoft, I disabled that and now it seems to be running without Trovi. Firefox is not better.

silly question, if I load this file will anyone be able to read it or just you?

It's still messing with my Firefox.. and I can see the bloat in the report for sure...

I am waiting for money right now but I will certainly give you a donation for your assistance..
I am VERY excited to get this properly clean!

Don't worry I am following your instructions carefully and absolutely. I am on my smartphone while I am waiting. I copied your instructions into notepad to be certain I would not open any browser windows.

Ok, this part is done, now I need one more check:

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Seems great, back to normal and fast, smooth

I am more thankful than I could explain!

Control panel says file type assistant may be already uninstalled and cannot be uninstalled there..

Download attached fixlist.txt on the same location as FRST (otherwise the fix won't work)
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

Open FRST, and click Fix. Attach me that report after it is finished.

It's running great. And flash is running faster and smoother than it has in a long time. I am so thankful. I will send a donation for your time as soon as my money comes in. Bless you. And thank you.
