I'm really good about safe browsing and protecting my computer, but somehow sometime in the last week or so a Chrome Extension called CirrocumulusStratiformis appeared and is very obviously a browser hijacker. It appeared randomly, was not installed by me, and will not let me remove it or disable it. My browser is also constantly being redirected from Google to Bing, Yahoo, and random other sarch engines I've never heard of when I try to search for something. I used Bitdefender and Avast running full scans and they found nothing. I'm currently using Microsoft Edge because Chrome just will not go to the sites I want it to, but I know the extension is on Edge as well because it's up in the corner saying the extension has access to all of my information and can view everything. I found a thread on here that gave an 8-step very extensive guide to do pretty much everything under the sun to get rid of all malware, specifically for extensions that can't be removed. I used Rkill, MalwareBytes, Hitman Pro, and Adwcleaner and NOTHING has gotten rid of this stupid malware extension. I went into my files, ran administrator tasks, I've tried everything and I cannot get rid of it. I have no clue what to do. Do I need to take my laptop to a professional? This thing could hijack all of my data, track my keys, gain access to all my personal information and do god knows what with it. I've never had something like this happen and I'm just completely at a loss on what to do at this point. Someone please help me.
