Privacy News Updated Google privacy policy says your Gmail might be used for advertising

Since Zoho offers free and low-cost business email tiers, spammers frequently abuse their infrastructure to send mass blasts. I don't face any spam from them. My experience is great with zohomail.
IMO they should at least ask for some kind of verification during registration, at basic, SMS verification to see if the person is real. It would drastically decrease the use of their services from bots.
Zoho Mail actually does use the exact same standard protection technologies as Gmail and Outlook—including Zoho Threat Protection, SPF/DKIM authentication, IP reputation tracking, and AI-driven content filters.
The critical difference is not the technology they use, but the different types of data these companies are allowed to analyze to build their filters. It comes down to a fundamental trade-off between privacy and convenience:

1. Data Scanning vs. Privacy First

• Gmail and Outlook: These giants process massive, global oceans of data. While they state they don't scan emails for consumer ads anymore, their massive machine-learning models constantly scan billions of user inboxes globally to learn exactly what spam looks like in real time.
• Zoho Mail: Zoho builds its core business model entirely around strict user privacy. According to the Zoho Privacy Policy, they actively limit how aggressively their algorithms read or analyze consumer email data. Because they don't scan private data as aggressively, their filters don't "learn" new spam tactics quite as quickly as Google or Microsoft.

2.

Catching Outbound vs. Inbound Spam

Every email provider is much better at filtering inbound mail (protecting their users from the outside) than stopping outbound mail (stopping bad users signed up on their own service).
• The Problem: Zoho’s inbound protection works well for people who use Zoho Mail. However, because spammers were using Zoho accounts to target your Outlook email, you were entirely reliant on Zoho's outbound team catching them before they clicked send.
Look... We get that you like Zoho services so much. It's great that you found something that works for you very well, especially from your own country. We know that Gmail and Outlook.com aren't very privacy conscious services and companies, but you have to take into consideration that e-mail is practically as old as the internet itself and was rarely updated. E-mail was never designed with privacy in mind in the first place.

Gmail and Outlook.com aren't used for privacy reasons; they are used because they basically run entire e-mail system. Gmail is the biggest e-mail provider in the world, and Outlook.com is huge in business market. This gives you reliability and assurance your mail will be sent and delivered in short amount of time, while with Zoho or other less popular services, that doesn't have to be the case. I tried Zoho Mail around 10 years ago, as well as Yandex Mail and both services were slow to deliver mails to Gmail and Outlook.com addresses. Things might got better meanwhile, but for personal and the most important e-mail address, I cannot afford scenario where my e-mail might be sent and delivered successfully or not.

I have no doubts that Zoho Mail -> Zoho Mail or Yandex Mail -> Yandex Mail works fantastic. Harsh reality it 95% of e-mail addresses you will stumble upon either rely on Gmail or Outlook.com so it makes sense to use them.
