RE: grimreaper1014 config

Good config, im not an expert of Kaspersky so i can't tell.

one question; why IE?

RE: grimreaper1014 config

Nice setup. Like Umbra said why IE, you could get Waterfox since your on a 64bit machine and add the following addons, Lastpass, Adblock Plus, Ghostery, WOT :)

RE: grimreaper1014 config

Mostly the reason for IE is that I play a game on Facebook and it seams to work the best for me. Other browser have some problems that make the game kinda hard to play. Therefore, it is more or less a lack of options.

RE: grimreaper1014 config

Just updated to Waterfox. So far so good. Its doing everything I need it too. Its even playing my game pretty good. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

For Adblock Plus I picked EasyList + EasyPrivacy and Malware Domains. Do you guys like those lists? Is there better ones that you know of?

why not IE? IE9 has quite some improvements over version 8. Sure it doesn't support as much addons as FF/WF/Chrome but it is still a decent browser.

True, but being on a 64 bit machine and not really sure if addons work on IE 64 bit, would be handy to have Waterfox.

Im on 64 bit and never really used WF.

FF was there and was hardly used.

IE and Chrome are fine as they are even if you don't really add extensions.

IE is not what it used to be anymore which a lot of users don't seem to see that.

RE: grimreaper1014 config

They do, but you need to install the additional 64-bit variants of Flash Player and Java.

RE: grimreaper1014 config

Waterfox has many advantages for performance but the extension support is limited for 64-bit. Most of the most popular extensions for Firefox only come in 32-bit. So if you run them in Waterfox, you will probably not benefit from any performance gain.

Waterfox has excellent performance much better than Firefox if you run it without any 32-bit extensions or plugins. However most users would rather have their favorite extensions and plugins compared to the performance gain.

Thanks.:D

RE: grimreaper1014 config

Waterfox is now compatible with nearly all if not all x32 addons. Check out their site it says it under features. That was the first thing I read before downloading it. It is defiantly faster than IE x64 and has many more options. Therefore, why not use it if your running a x64 machine?

I didn't say the 32-bit extensions were not compatible most will work but how can you get performance running a 64-bit browser with 32-bit extensions? It really doesn't sound logical. Unless the browser and all of its components are 64-bit, you still will not get full performance.

Waterfox is an excellent idea but in order for it to have full potential there will have to be more development done on 64-bit extensions and plugins.

So far there is still not a browser that can take full benefits of 64-bit systems. Even Internet Explorer 64-bit is not selected by default by Microsoft and they still recommended to use the 32-bit version.

Thanks.:D

Agreed that is the only thing I would install Java for. Minecraft.

RE: grimreaper1014 config

Hi,
Very good config,Its almost same config to my laptop except my machine is 32 bit.

You can tweak kaspersky firewall for good security:

attachment.php

attachment.php

For more security
1- Go to proactive defense tab
2-Select settings
3-Tick on all the check-boxes.

Thanks to elliotcroft and malbky for the tutorial

Even if you installed if for Minecraft, you can disable the plugin in your browser. Well, unless you are playing Minecraft in your browser, in which case I'd say to run it standalone.
