Pros
  • - Fast , really fast
    - lot of options

    - dedicated download folders
    - light on resources
    - browsers adaptability
    - very fast support team
CONS
- sometimes takes priority over some streaming sites functions
BOTTOM LINE
The best download manager , and i tried many of them but always get back to it
if they had a free version, i am sure they will gain lot of users and maybe future customers.
Agree. IDM should release one free version with limitation of download/s per day say 500MB to 1GB.

Also, in Options/General tab... try ticking the option "use advanced browser integration"... I cannot remember if that was default when I installed or not...

This is pretty pointless when you have torrents for the full version they upload IDM cracks often on torrent sites.

some people don't want use cracks or don't know how to proceed ; not saying unless you have good sources , most cracks are packed with malwares.

If the patch is a .exe file I run it in sandboxie, but normally they have IDMan.exe and all you have to do is move it to the directory of IDM and it activates just fine.

true but i have to ask you a question : how do you know that IDM.exe is safe and not packed with a malicious script?

you replace the original IDM.exe by the cracked one, so you have to "run" it no? (unless you talked about sth different) .
Malicious script doesn't need to be installer or have a GUI , a single hidden registry command is enough to infect you.

1. Download IDM Torrent
2. Copy IDMan.exe into IDM Path
3. Run IDM Shortcut (Not IDM.EXE)

i know that , i used cracks & keygens since ages ^^

i meant , the shortcut leads to a cracked IDM executable, this cracked executable can be infected via many ways.

for a crack to works , it must replicate the original exe but with some added codes that doesn't trigger the license check of the software or change the licensing registry key.

note the added code, it can be anything you want , malwares, exploits, registry hack to shutdown your AV, ports opener, etc...

I never use any torrent site, actually I don't understand torrent . One biggest download I ever did-was windows 7 ultimate from MSDN at MDL and used IDM trial version (for a month) to download that. That's why I suggested a free version of IDM with limitation of download per day. I've installed all genuine software it was obtained either from a giveaway or free version so no need to try a cracked software.:D

For me the most important and time saving feature of IDM is "Refresh download address". This feature comes in handy while downloading a large file and when we resume the previously paused download. Really a useful feature.
