Vivaldi for iOS and iPadOS has been released, after a beta testing period of four months. Let's take a closer look at the browser.

In case you missed it, I reviewed the TestFlight version of the app when the first beta was released.

Vivaldi for iOS

Initial set up

When you run it for the first time, Vivaldi will ask you to choose whether you would like the app to block trackers and ads. The browser blocks trackers by default, but it does not block ads. You need to set it to block both during the initial set up, or later from the Settings. Next, you will need to choose the Tab style, there are two options that you may choose from: a simplified tab switcher, and a Tab Bar. We'll take a look at these options in a minute.

Start Page

The Start Page aka the New Tab page in Vivaldi has a speed dial with sponsored shortcuts for various websites and services. You can remove these, and replace them with shortcuts for your favorite websites.

We’ve released a new update to the Vivaldi browser on iOS – Vivaldi 6.4.

Earlier, this September we launched our browser on iOS, and we’re overwhelmed with the positive responses about Vivaldi’s unique features on your iPhone and iPad.

What stands out in Vivaldi is its powerful feature set and useful built-in tools, that make your browsing more personal and private. We are proud of the unique user experience we’ve brought to iOS and are motivated to fine-tune the browser into an even better version today.

In this update, we’ve added new functions such as pinning tabs and shortcuts to search faster, rounded a few rough edges, squashed some bugs, and polished the browser with under-the-hood improvements.

This year’s Holiday release – Vivaldi 6.5 – is packed with a string of new features on your iPhones and iPads.

Vivaldi on iOS is the best gift we could give you this year.

As we near the Holidays, we bring in more cheer by adding one of the most requested features to the browser — a configurable Address Bar and Tab Bar. Now, you can place the Address Bar and Tab Bar at the bottom or keep them at the top.

Now that you can place the Address Bar at the bottom, you also have the option to reverse the order of search suggestions. This option is in addition to the default view that shows search results on the top.

You can give a personal touch to the browser’s Start Page by adding your custom images as wallpapers, or by choosing from a selection of preloaded wallpapers.

The new update also gets the signature feature of the browser where the color of the user interface matches the colors of the webpage you’re visiting.

Furthermore, we now make your complete browsing history available on all your devices. All data in Vivaldi Sync is fully end-to-end encrypted (E2EE).

Spring is here. So is our new colorful version on iOS — Vivaldi 6.6. With the latest update, you have new ways to personalize the look and feel of your browser — exactly how you want it.

We’ve added colorful Themes on your iPhone and iPad that make your browsing suit your aesthetic preferences. Whether you’re looking for a dark, light, or colorful theme, Vivaldi has something for everyone.

Loving the Dark Mode feature in Vivaldi? Wish you could apply it to every web page you visit? Well, now you can. You can already choose your preferred webpage color scheme — dark or light — independent of the operating system theme (Dark Mode). But if you have an affinity for the darker side of the web, Vivaldi now automatically generates a dark theme for unsupported websites.

More improvements:
  • Improved performance of the Tracker and Ad Blocker.
  • Open links in background tabs and share them through different apps and services in fewer taps.
  • Personalize Vivaldi through Speed Dials (bookmarks) and Wallpapers which can be accessed from the browser’s Start Page Settings.
