AVG LinkScanner
The most dangerous page on the web may be the one you are about to click on. AVG LinkScanner provides an advanced layer of security against fast-moving, invisible web threats, and hacked web sites. It verifies the safety of web pages you visit, and of links returned from web searches (Google, Yahoo! and MSN), so you know how safe/unsafe a page is at the time you attempt to click on it. It works alongside most current consumer AV and security suite products, delivering an additional layer of security they do not provide. Highlights: Real-time scanning of links you click on, so you can be sure you are protected from the latest hacked or exploited websites. Emphasis on analysis of each web page you visit instead of the web site. Automatic upgrades whenever the threat intelligence network finds a new threat. AVG LinkScanner is available as a free download for single computer, home non-commercial use.

BitDefender TrafficLight
Bitdefender TrafficLight adds a strong and non-intrusive layer of security to your browsing experience

Dr.Web LinkChecker
This plugin allows you to check any file you are about to download, any page you are about to visit with online version of Dr.Web anti-virus.

McAfee SiteAdvisor
McAfee SiteAdvisor software is a free Web security plug-in that provides you with simple red, yellow and green Website safety ratings, McAfee SECURE trustmarks for sites passing more rigorous daily tests, and a Secure Search Box so you can click with confidence and safely surf, search and shop online. This program tests websites for spyware, spam, phishing, and browser exploits, and its automatic updates help protect you from the latest threats.
SiteAdvisor technology works with 20 search engines, including Google, Yahoo!, Bing, AOL, and Ask. It does not require any other security software to work. With SiteAdvisor software installed, your browser will look a little different than before. We add small site rating icons to your search results as well as a browser button and optional search box. Together, these alert you to potentially risky sites and help you find safer alternatives. These site ratings are based on tests conducted by McAfee using an army of computers that look for all kinds of threats (detailed below). The result is a guide to Web safety. The SiteAdvisor technology is free, easy to install and even easier to use. And it doesn't collect any personally identifiable information.

Norton Safe Web
Norton Safe Web is a new Web site rating service from Symantec. Our servers crawl the Web and analyze what we find to see how it will affect you and your computer.
The Norton Safe Web plug-in was designed to let you know how safe a particular Web site might be before you visit it. If you need to find out more about how a Web site might behave, we provide more detailed information on the Norton Safe Web Report.

Trend Micro TrendProtect
TrendProtect is a FREE browser plug-in that helps you avoid Web pages with unwanted content and hidden threats. TrendProtect rates the current page and pages listed in Google, MSN, and Yahoo search results. You can use the rating to decide if you want to visit or avoid a given Web page. To rate Web pages, TrendProtect refers to an extensive database that covers the following information for billions of Web pages:
  1. Content category
  2. Phishing scam detection
  3. Site reputation
  4. Page reputation

WOT (Web of Trust)
WOT shows you which websites you can trust based on millions of users’ experiences around the world to help you stay safe when you search, surf, and shop online.
  • Traffic light style icons guide you find trustworthy links on search engine results, social media, online email, and many popular sites
  • You can leave your own ratings to help other web users stay safe
  • Third-party trusted sources provide technical security
  • It’s fast, free, and easy-to-use

Personally I only used 3 out of the ones listed, so to be fair, I will not vote.

AVG was fine but wasn't needed for my needs. WOT indeed was and still is handy. BitDefender, I had no pros or cons.

I'm a WOT user, mostly because WOT ratings will also warn me about shady (not malicious but controversial or not that great) pages or products....
If I didn't have WOT, I would most likely go with Norton Safe Web,however I do trust the people opinions more than what a scanning engine has to say about a page.

Here is an example:
Site : hxxp://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ - A website which ranks very high on Google for a very targeted keyword : top antivirus

Rating from Web of Trust - YELLOW - http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=rw-viewsc
Rating from Norton Safe Web - GREEN - http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=http%3A%2F%2Fanti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com%2F

While the site isn't malicious and won't harm your computer, the content of the site is powered by advertise and is lacking professionalism and objectivity.

Well mine will have to be two options, one Trend Micro TrendProtect and WOT (Web of Trust). Trend because used it before I had and got WOT and was working fine, but since I've got WOT I've decided to stick with that.

WOT is my fav followed by BD Trafficlight...it is good for questionable sites that aren't really malware but still not a good site to connect to like Jack said.

I think that WOT is pretty much 90% community based...but anyway,I use it and it is good. :shy:

dont forget to use vtchromizer if you use chrome or FF to scan unknown links...it gives a good judgement...I started using it is yesterday and its good...

The problem with webutation is its not support most of browsers like ie and opera.

I use wot in light mode, you even don't notice there is anything on your browser and when a malicious site appears it warns you

I don't use any webguard or website reputation browser add-ons/websites.

I've never had a great need to use them. During 2011, when Google/Google Images was infested with fake scanner pages I tried a couple web guards, Little did they help, I then switched to ClearCloud DNS and that basically blocked 99.9% of them and did the job for me.

A minute silence for ClearCloud...

I might try a webguard in the future, Possibly TrendMicro (IMO and in all my tests, TrendMicro blocked just about every zero-day malicious URL I threw at it), Or I will install the Panda URL filter service as I consider that to have a high detection not to mention it will work in any browser I use.

Thanks. :)

Malicious Link Protection = Trafficlight definitely takes the crown followed by Panda and AVG linkscanner

From my own personal testing, Chrome's (Google) Malware Protection was more effective that the ones you listed.

Does Dragon not use Google's Phishing and Malware Protection, or is that feature not available?

Indeed a minute of silence for ClearCloud.

Panda however seems to have decreased its reputation.

Past few days whatever zero days link i threw at Panda only about 40% were blocked.

We all regret its disparition for the free users...but if you have Vipre IS , it is still available , no?

Some say VIPRE uses ClearCloud database, some say it doesn't.

You will find both type of answers online. Truly a mystery...

That's the strong point of the security suite. It's web filter has can block anything, but I don't know if the free Trend Protect has the same effect compared to the paid internet security.
