Hi friends :)

I wanted to ask you about your experiences with download managers.

I've been using Eagleget, but sometimes I've suffered BSOD through the eagleget.sys file.

I am trying other options, that is why I ask you, since your opinion is very important for me.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day :)

I was about to recommend Eagleget but I see you're having problems with it. Its the best IDM alternative but it always have issues. If you download streaming media often, I recommend FDM along with video download helper addon. If you use Firefox then downthemall is a great one. Jdownloader is great too but resource hog. XDM is another good one.

What is the advantage of using downloaders?
Downloaders can increase the speed although they often exaggerate for marketing purpose like 5 times faster speed or so. Its not that fast but definitely faster than browser's download manager. Download managers can resume downloads even after long time, browsers just restarts or say failed to connect if resumed after some time. Its very helpful when downloading large files. Some download managers like IDM and Eagleget can even capture streaming media from nearly every site. And for someone like me with slow and unreliable internet, download managers are must have.

What is the advantage of using downloaders?

Like others stated, speed and "resumability" are big factors. However, my main draw to IDM is how easily you can organize all the downloads on your hard drive. The default rules make folders for various downloads depending on the extension (e.g "Programs" .exe .msi |"Videos" .avi .mp4) and will file them in the appropriate folder (defaults: %UserProfile%/Downloads/[Category] . It can be customized on a per-host basis if wanted and things like Syncing & Scheduling are there if you need them. The original reason I got it in the first place is because of the one-click downloading for Youtube videos when it was one of the only legit tools that easily worked.

There may be a better download manager than IDM from a power/usability aspect but I haven't used it yet. If any of these features appeal to you, give it a whirl.

I used to love eagleget as free download manager , but it had too many quirks and bugs , plus it has affeliations with porn sites. so that is a big no no for me. nowwadays I have Internet Download Manager installed and it costed me a bit less than 30 euro's for a lifetime licensce. very cheap imho and it easy one of the programs I personally recommend to shell out cash for!

I'm likely inclining towards the same verdict, man. JDL v2 is one of the best DL managers I have ever used. Perhaps the only downside is that it requires Java to run properly.
I still have JD 2 in my PC, but use it occasionally.

JD 2 have inbuilt Java so there is no need to worry about separate run time installer application.

You may try Free Download Manager V3 or V5...:)

I have used V3 for a long time & never had any probs.
Not tried V5 yet...My current IDM will expire in a month, will give a try to FDM V5

Testing Free Download Manager V5

Normal downloads up to 17 Mbps, slightly more than what I got with EagleGet (15.5 Mbps)

Download Torrents up to 14 Mbps, slightly less than I get with Qbittorrent (15 Mbps)

Quite more comfortable, IMO, than EaglGet or Download ninja by including torrents natively

It seems pretty stable and my first feelings are really nice

You can configure the number of segments in DownThemAll! I don't know if it will survive though. They are and seem to be able to survive but I don't know how the code works nor how Mozilla plans to implement WebExtensions. At least you get NoScript in Chrome. Easy standardization.

Is it normal for Eagleget to try to connect to IP 47.152.44.208 (Frontier Communication Corporation)?
