By Staff What is really going on in the Comodo threads?

In your opinion, what is the main cause of the issues in Comodo threads?

  • Strong personalities – some members can’t let things go.

  • Product history – Comodo has a long, controversial reputation that always reignites old debates.

  • Poor wording / labels – terms like fanboy, hater, or dismissive comments that trigger arguments.

  • Over-reporting – members report posts just because they disagree, not because rules were broken.

  • Moderation approach – staff may intervene too much or too little, creating frustration.

  • Other (please explain in a reply).

The firewall and containment are the real Comodo heroes
Yep the Firewall is good, not being able to filter services traffic, IPv6 disabled by default, IPv6 filtering so so, HostName filtering not working as intended, Firewall is bypassed by certain VPNs, ...
Yeah yeah Comodo Firewall is good...

I think that the core of this thread is not Comodo, although the problem happened with it. No particular AV is worth such attention. However, similar issues have happened many times in the past without Comodo. The issue is quite general.

From time to time, some MT members/critics are certain that they are right and others are wrong. There can be three cases of the critics' positions:
  1. Others can be excused.
  2. Not sure if others can be excused.
  3. Others are so wrong that they cannot be excused.
The long and irritating discussions, as in this thread, usually happen with points 2 and 3. The reason for that is usually insufficient evidence that could settle the dispute.
With point 1, the critics and defenders usually agree to disagree. The world is large enough to accommodate different opinions.

Interesting point. That said, as the thread’s original poster and rule-setter in the thread you created, you were actively driving the discussion back and forth. Rather than agreeing to disagree, you repeatedly insisted others were wrong. In effect, your approach played a significant role in escalating the thread to the length and intensity it reached.

Who cares about software firewalls nowadays, apart from 9 geeks (and dropping)…?

Here we go again...

Firewall is not as important as AV, but it represnts an additional layer of security.
For example, blocking connection to LOLBINs used for malicious purpose, such as FirewallHardening tool or a more simple and light firewall such as simplewall.

Is it bypassable by code injection of allowed programs and processes? Yes, it is, but it may save the user on certain occasions.

That's exactly the point. Just harden the built in Windows Firewall and don't bother with third-party firewalls. But that's all I will say to support a statement of a guy that I really respect here. Won't say his name tho.

Hint: He's always talking about keeping himself away from trouble in Comodo threads but it seems like it doesn't really work out for him. :sneaky:

I cannot provide statement regarding Comodo; I installed CF years ago, did not like it (messy design and settings and not resource friendly); uninstalled less than an hour later.

My fav is simplewall; I am not the containment man; I just need firewall beside MD, AppLocker (scripts), and WDAC (executables and dlls).

It’s interesting to note that this thread, which is not about Comodo but rather a discussion of what happened in another thread, is already showing signs that it will turn into another war between Comodo fans and haters.

Yep, it's gone off the rails, and didn't we get the information we wanted in the poll, and the first couple of pages?

The other thread created shouldn’t have been allowed in the first place. If any other member had created a flame thread with their own set of rules, it would have been stopped. The previous thread was locked for a reason. So, if anyone wants to point fingers, I suggest reading what I just wrote carefully.

There has been Comodo drama since its birthday - Day 1.
Now I've discovered that it really is you. You're the one polarizing the Comodo topics. I've followed all the posts by @Andy Ful, @Divergent, and @Trident, as well as your posts. You are the one who creates discord and chaos in Comodo topics specifically by attacking members and turning them against each other here. BTW, my post #152 about the drama surrounding Comodo was not for you, it was for @rashmi. Why, were you offended? Oh, poor thing, I'm sorry I offended you, I didn't know you were so sentimental about Comodo. @Jack, thank you very much, you can close this thread now, please. We already know who the villain is, turning the Comodo threads upside down. I thought it was everyone, but it's not. This guy is a figure on the MT forum. 👀
Melih and Comodo live rent free in a lot of peoples' minds.
I don't care whether Melih lives for free or not, that's not my problem. BTW, why don't you marry him? You two seem like a couple, sometimes you two could be the perfect couple, why do you only talk about him, Melih here, Melih there, forget the guy. You're an arrogant person, you seem like a know-it-all, you're always attacking members here, when you praise and criticize the Comodo product, you always come up with some argument that only you are right? To me, you're just another troll who creates discomfort in MT posts. I will not respond to your future posts; this will be the last one. I will not waste my time with you. 🤫 What a grumpy guy, my God. Where did you come from anyway? I apologize to @Jack and the moderators for what I said. For me, he crossed the line. 🤐

When the villains are busy hogging the spotlight, it's time for the hero to bask in all the praise, recognition, and affection. And that hero is none other than your kind-hearted, sincere, ever-helpful buddy and part-time superhero, 😍@rashmi😍! Unmask the superhero 😘, reveal the person @Kongo truly admires 🥰, and watch as the 😂MalwareTips community hoists him up and showers him with adoration😂! 😊
