What movie are you watching or planning to watch?

@goodjohnjr Now that three of us have seen Magnetic Rose (connected in some way through this forum), it reminds me of that line from The Rings of Power: one corrupts, two divide, but three bring balance. Perhaps this balance will spark more people’s curiosity to give this hidden gem a chance. 💍🌌✨
Hopefully. 😁

@goodjohnjr What a stroke of luck to see it on the big screen! I’m really happy for you. Hopefully I’ll get the chance with part three as well, though maybe not in theaters. 🎬🍀🙌

What will be even cooler is, if they will show it as a mystery movie, where I can see it as an early screening. But I doubt they will do that. ;)

Hopefully you will get to see it too, and hopefully in a movie theater.

And hopefully it will be good, and will not stray as far from the books and skip as much from the books as the previous two movies.

What Is It?

The 2015 anime original video animation (OVA) television show:

Ghost In The Shell: Arise and Ghost In The Shell: Arise – Alternative Architecture.

My Thoughts

I would not have known about this anime OVA and television show.

And the movie for it if it were not for Chris Stuckmann.

Who made a review of the movie for this several years ago called Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie – Movie Review:

Until I saw his video I had no idea about any of this.

After watching it several years ago, my brother GC and I watched the video and the movie back-to-back.

They both blended together in my mind. I can hardly tell them apart at this point.

And I can not remember that much about them now.

This was not as good as it should have been. It was better than the live-action movie.

However, we were a bit disappointed.

I did not like the new look or voice of The Major (Motoko Kusanagi) compared to the previous version.

It was strange that the previous voice actress for The Major was doing the voice for a different character.

The action in this was good. However, it was not as intellectual as some other works in the franchise.

It was still nice to see something new in the franchise. It was at least worth watching once, but it could have been better.

Both this and the movie for this have great trailers. These trailers are better than the actual works themselves.

It would be amazing if they made an abridged trailer-like version for both.

Then that would possibly be better than watching the full versions.

@goodjohnjr I pretty much agree with you. Even though the Arise anime looks great and has some cool action scenes, it definitely feels different from the original essence of the franchise. The live-action movie had its visual moments, but I’m with you on this: anime always manages to capture that 'spark' and depth that the live-action version just couldn't reach. Sometimes the trailers really do a better job of selling the vibe than the actual final product! 🎬 🤔 ⭐

Thank you for sharing your thoughts @Halp2001.

To me the live action Ghost In The Shell felt soulless, looks over substance.

I also like the first two seasons of Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex better than the rest of the animated TV shows / OVAs / TV movies so far. With Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig possibly being my favorite.

The anime TV movie Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex Solid State Society was alright, could have been better, but at least it followed more of the style of the first two seasons.

Ghost In The Shell 2 Innocence also had a great trailer, probably better than the movie. That movie was a mind trip, unique, and took some risks.

Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence – Available Now:

Ghost In The Shell the original anime movie, is a classic as well, though the anime TV series is more balanced and mainstream.

Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex 2045 is a stain on the anime series, mostly season 1, I consider it non-canon, and try to ignore it mostly. I do like some of the music, though.

Hopefully the upcoming Ghost In The Shell anime TV series will be better than that trash / stain.

I finished the first season of Fringe. Really great show! I look forward to diving into Season 2 :D https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1119644
@ErzCrz So great to see you continuing with Fringe! The first season already opens the door to a world full of mystery, and the best part is that in the second season the show steps right through it, becoming even more intense and captivating.Get ready for an experience that grows with every episode, because this is where the story truly takes off and pulls you in. Enjoy the marathon—you’re going to love it! 🪞🚪🌀
