What movie are you watching or planning to watch?

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die
What a very good surprise!
I was going to see an early screening of this movie because it was a mystery movie.

But it got canceled because of an emergency declared for a possible freeze that day. :(

Fortunately, I started watching it this weekend, I have not finished it yet. ;)

Beasts of No Nation Movie Review:

My Thoughts

This was one of the best movies that I saw back in 2015 or 2016.

I like the realism, the cinematography, and the acting.

I also enjoy the topic, the environment, and the atmosphere.

Most of the directing appeals to me.

I think that other people will probably like that as well.

The early parts of the movie felt more like a documentary at times because things seemed pretty realistic.

It was interesting and strange seeing Idris Elba play a character like the Commandant.

The child actors and actresses did a great job in this movie.

Their performances were even better than most of the adults, in my opinion.

Especially Abraham Attah deserves an award.

He has the standout performance as the character Agu.

There are some amazing standout scenes in this movie.

The realistic attack during the early parts is memorable.

It reminded me of one of the ending scenes of the movie Children Of Men.

The take the bridge scene that can give you goosebumps.

A disturbing raid occurred on a house.

There is a beautifully shot battle scene with trenches and mud.

The scene showcases stunning colors.

In another scene at a rehabilitation school, some inspiring and haunting words were said.

Sadly, most people have probably never heard of this movie.

They will probably never see it.

It was probably just distributed digitally by Netflix.

It probably did not get shown at movie theaters.

Places like my library do not have it.

It was not advertised or talked about much.

It probably had a low-budget, but they did an incredible job with it.

This movie was how I expect movies to be.

However, during the middle or later part, it loses momentum and somewhat loses its way.

This part is not as good as the rest of the movie.

It made the movie start to drag at times.

This movie could be a 5 out of 5 if edited from that point until the end.

Otherwise, it remains a 4 or 4.5 out of 5.

@goodjohnjr Are you still watching Paradise season 2? I’m on episode 6 and the feeling I get is that I’m watching a completely different series compared to the first season. Even though there are some episodes that connect, the atmosphere feels different. I’m still enjoying it, but season 1 grabbed me more, especially because of the intrigues and because I thought they were going to explore more about the technology used in the shelter. 📖🧩🎬

I have gotten off track with distractions, overwhelm, laziness, other series (anime et cetera), gaming, work, et cetera so I have not gotten any further than episode 4 or 5.

So far I agree, it is like a different series compared to Season 1.

I also liked Season 1 better than what I have seen so far.

I like that Season 1 was more thriller and mystery.

If they would have continued more from where Season 1 left off, I think it would have worked better.

But I guess I will see eventually.

The 2012 low-budget American fantasy drama movie Beasts Of The Southern Wild was directed by Benh Zeitlin.

It stars the actress Quvenzhané Wallis as the character Hushpuppy and the actor Dwight Henry as the character Wink.

BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD: Official Trailer:

What Is It About?

A big storm is approaching a small Louisiana bayou community called The Bathtub.

A girl named Hushpuppy lives there with her father Wink.

Hushpuppy and her father Wink and several members of the community do not evacuate before the storm arrives.

The film explores the relationship between Hushpuppy, Wink, and other community members.

It includes some fantasy elements on occasion.

Beasts of the Southern Wild Trailer:

Why Do You Like It?

I like it. The low-budget limited this film’s potential, but it was still well acted. It sometimes felt real or like a documentary.

Some of the other things that I liked are the funny & emotional moments. I also enjoyed some of the fantasy elements.

The father & daughter relationship was compelling.

Additionally, the portrayal of survivors of a storm & their sense of community was noteworthy.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild — Movie Review JPMN:

Why Would Someone Else Like It?

Other people will like it. It is a good and unique low-budget dramatic film.

It involves family and community before, during, and after a major storm.

My Thoughts

I think that Beasts Of The Southern Wild is worth watching. It was probably one of the best films that I saw last year.

It was a film that surprised me and that almost made me cry.

I am glad that I watched it. I had no idea what it was about before I watched it.

This is what I said about this movie in another post:

Late last night my brother GC and I watched a low-budget film. It is somewhat lesser known, in my opinion.

The film is called Beasts Of The Southern Wild.

For some unknown reason(s) I keep wanting to call it Beasts Of The Southern Wind. :D

A few years ago, I heard it was a good film. I had never seen any trailers or reviews of it. I didn’t even know what it was about.

At work this week, I shelved it at my shelver job at The B Parish Library.

I decided to check this film out. I planned to watch it this week, and I did.

I did not know what this film was about, and I had no idea what to expect.

People assumed it would resemble the film Beasts of No Nation.

Others thought it would be like a Hayao Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli film.

Likewise, I assumed that the film was going to take place in either Africa or Australia. I ended up being wrong about this.

I assumed that I would be surprised by this film, like I was with the film Beasts Of No Nation.

Beasts Of No Nation had good cinematography. It also had good acting.

The main character Agu was played by the actor Abraham Attah.

Beasts Of No Nation almost seemed real at times. It felt almost like a documentary.

It matched how I expect films to feel, if that makes any sense.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild was not as good as I had expected. The cinematography was also not as good as I had expected.

However, the giant ancient beasts looked very good. This was especially impressive for a low-budget film.

It did not give me the feeling I expect from films. I experienced that feeling when I saw Beasts Of No Nation.

It is a low-budget film, so I can understand.

This film did a great job on such a low budget. It was still a good film with good acting.

Like the main character Hushpuppy who was played by the actress Quvenzhané Wallis.

The movie almost seemed real at times, and more like a documentary.

I teared up a few times. I had to stop myself from crying during some emotional scenes in this film.

Like the movie Beasts Of No Nation, Beasts Of The Southern Wild is a film that deserves more recognition.

It needs to be more popular. More people should see it.

This film is among the best films this year. It ranks alongside the movie Beasts Of No Nation.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild covered various topics. It explored family and the community working together.

The film also depicted living a more natural life.

It showed having some happiness even in poverty while also highlighting some of the struggles.

It portrayed surviving natural disasters. These disasters can impact an area significantly.

They affect the people and things living there.

The movie emphasized perseverance, dying / death, suffering from illness, and the power of imagination.

It covered even more topics beyond these.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild might not be the greatest film. It may not have been as good as I had hoped.

However, I still liked this movie.

I think that it is a good, sometimes emotional, and well-acted film; especially for a low-budget film.

I recommend that you watch this movie. I wish that our parents had watched it with us.

I also recommend that you watch the movie Beasts Of No Nation.

My Thoughts

My brothers and I saw this anime movie years ago. It instantly became one of our favorite anime or animated movies.

It might even be our favorite by Studio Ghibli / Hayo Miyazaki.

In general, it is a favorite, although my brother CC possibly liked Castle In The Sky better though.

We have not seen this movie in years. I am not sure if it still holds up as well or not.

I remember us liking the animation, voice acting, music, action, characters, and some of the story.

The story did start to get a little confusing. It fell apart somewhat in the end.

Overall, it was one of the best anime movies we had seen back then. It was also among the most balanced.

Sadly, a lot of people not familiar with anime have probably never seen or heard of this anime before. This is a shame.

I think that this movie would be even more popular if more people knew about it and saw it.

If you have not seen this movie before, please do watch it. Let me know what you think about it.

I got around to starting Dark (Germany) Netflix last night, and ISP decided to do maintenance for 90 min right before I started. I then promptly fell asleep when the Netflix went back online. Trying again later tonight (sometime after the The Pitt on HBO/Max)

@simmerskool That sounds like getting lost for a while in the Winden caves: a bit of confusion at first, but in the end, it becomes part of the adventure. The important thing is that you found your way back to enjoy it! If you feel like sharing your experience later, I’m sure it’ll be another great addition to the thread. 🔦⏳🌌

The Host – Movie Review (2006):

My Thoughts

I saw this film years ago thanks to my former male classmate SS, who is from South Korea.

He told me about this film.

He also mentioned at least two other Korean films.

So, I watched this film and those two other Korean films.

One of the best scenes in this movie happens at the end.

It is both emotional and my favorite.

Everything builds up to that moment.

The music and everything went together wonderfully during that battle scene.

It was an amazing family moment that probably gave me the chills.

Made me emotional, and made me want to join in the battle.
