Werewolves Within Review (2021):

My Thoughts

When I saw the trailer for this movie.

It looked like it had the potential to be goofy, fun, and better than you would expect.

And I assumed that it was a werewolf movie.

So my brother GC and I decided to watch it a week ago.

It was good to see Milana Vayntrub in a movie, and I hope to see her in more movies and TV shows.

Unfortunately, this movie was not as good as I had hoped, and it did not reach its full potential.

It was not bad.

But it was goofier than I had expected.

And it did not have as much seriousness as I had expected.

It was also dumber than it should have been, which hurt the logic of the movie.

They should have had more horror and thriller elements.

Fortunately, this movie was partly the type of movie that I had expected.

Though they took way too long to reveal that at the end.

I would probably rate this movie a 3 out of 5.

I watched Werewolves Within and found it quite okay — I tend to prefer softer kinds of horror. It’s more absurd than bloody, which works for me. Speaking of the genre, one of my favorites has always been An American Werewolf in London🤵🐺

Honestly it is expected to be a massive projected bomb with avg opening week gross of $35 mil for a 170 million budget but I will see it because well I was a fan back in the day.

HE-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I expect a total out of touch movie that will crush many creative careers but I will enjoy it. It's like watching a train wreck.

@goodjohnjr I’ve watched the Underworld saga and enjoyed it quite a lot. Dog Soldiers, the Ginger Snaps movies, and Late Phases I haven’t seen yet, but I’ll probably give them a try. I’m not much of a fan when there’s too much blood and carnage, so I’m not sure if those fall into that style. After An American Werewolf in London, my second favorite is The Company of Wolves (1985), where the horror feels more poetic and psychological, like a dark and surreal fairy tale that plays with the folkloric idea that the real monster is not a wild animal, but the hidden impulses of the humans around us." 🐺📖🌌

Cool, I do not think that I have seen that movie before, thank you @Halp2001.

Dog Soldiers and Late Phases are more on the action side, with one involving soldiers versus werewolves, and the other an old retired blind soldier.

I probably missed some werewolf movies in there because they usually have forgetable names and are not talked about much or at all.

BACKROOMS – Movie Review:

Backrooms (2026) Movie Review:

My Thoughts

When my brother GC and I heard that Kane Parsons (Kane Pixels) was getting to make a Backrooms movie.

That would be distributed by A24 to movie theaters / the cinema.

We knew that we would probably watch it.

Because we follow his YouTube channel, and we have seen most of his short films about The Backrooms.

The Backrooms:

As well as various other people’s unique takes on The Backrooms with their own short films on YouTube.

So we wanted to go out and support a YouTuber making his first major movie.

I did not realize how young he was until I heard it on the news.

Congratulations young man for achieving so much, and I look forward to your future projects.

This movie is not for everyone, do not watch it when you are tired and distracted et cetera.

Watch it when you are in the mood for a slower paced indie movie with a liminal space.

I watched this on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the Regal movie theater in the city of L.

With my brother GC, my brother CC, my brother KDC, and my sister-in-law KC.

Unfortunately, this movie did not stick to his usual formula for The Backrooms.

Which is first person, found footage, and an exploration of the liminal space known as The Backrooms.

I wish that would have been the main focus of this movie.

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve had good performances.

I hope to see Renate Reinsve in another movie or TV show in the future.

But I wish that they had spent more time exploring The Backrooms.

I also wish that we would have seen more unique areas in The Backrooms.

I also wish that a certain entity had either stayed in the shadows or that it did not look as goofy.

My brother GC and I did not like this movie as much as we had expected.

Because it was slower than expected and did not follow The Backrooms formulas as much as expected.

It was not bad and I do want to watch it again when it is available at home.

Because I think that this might be a movie that I will like better on the second viewing.

Because when I left the movie theater / cinema, I was not exactly sure how I felt about this movie.

So I need to see it again.

Under more comfortable conditions, like at home when I am in the mood for this type of movie.

The rest of my family who watched it with me, besides my brother GC, did not like this movie.

But KDC and KC have disliked almost every movie that I have watched with them so far, so this is nothing new. :D

I would still recommend this movie to people who want to watch a movie like this.

I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.

@goodjohnjr I’m glad it caught your interest, I hope you enjoy it and that it’s to your liking. It has a very different approach compared to Dog Soldiers or Late Phases, more symbolic and psychological, like a dark fairy tale. And if you look closely at the poster, there’s a small detail that might be useful 😉

@goodjohnjr & @Halp2001 I recall liking Wolf (1994) with Jack Nicholson & Michelle Pfeiffer. More psychological than gore IIRC. IMDB says it is on Prime.
