If you are not in the US, Kaspersky continues to work as usual. You will hear all sort of stories about Kaspersky. Everyone that accuses them of being untrustworthy has never provided actual proof. The story always goes along the lines of "... but if they decide to act maliciously then...", but the same can be said about any other security software. They all operate with high privileges on your computer because that's the only way they are able to do their job. Kaspersky has existed for decades and it was never involved in any controversies until recently. So far all accusations have not been proven. Meanwhile, other vendors, some even recommended here, have actively engaged in activities like selling user data to third parties. Other vendors that have never been involved in any controversies could be doing that right now and we don't know about it. Nobody will ever be able to provide you with 100% confidence that a vendor is trustworthy, you have to reach that conclusion on your own. It's a mix of objective and subjective criteria.
