[QUOTE="Marko :), post: 1109109, member: 39702"] Look... we're not saying 3rd party antivirus software are garbage. They certainly can protect you. We just see them as unnecessary; especially those "internet security" packages that sell you crap like cleaner, driver updater or 100% not-anonymous VPN. I'm not gonna ignore the fact that antivirus companies are just upselling you stuff you don't really need; all under the term "protection". And their marketing strategy is luring average user to spend money with them. Do you know how I know Defender is more than enough for 99% of people? I am a member of a lot of forums; what international, what local ones. Back in Windows Vista/7/8(.1) era, we used to have constant requests from people for help cleaning their PCs of malware. Ever since Windows 10 was release, there were less and less topics of same type. Once Windows 10 overtook Windows 7 and 8.1 in marketshare, there wasn't a single topic on any of the forums. In one of them, we had a little community where we discussed about security software. The community essentially died because apparently, no one needs 3rd party software anymore. I have no doubt that the number of users of 3rd party antivirus software also decreased when Defender started being good. And regarding your little "fun fact". I experienced the same on my old laptop which had Windows 10. On a new laptop, with Windows 11, I can't say I'm experiencing the same. Defender works great and I don't have any slowdowns at all.
