IDM and Xtreme Download Manager both share similarities in UI and function........
Which you think is better Paid or free one?

You are better off using a free one, than going for a paid version. XDM is quite good.

the question was for jackuars who specified that the developer is an indian.

how does the developer's nationality is matter?

That was the answer to the question you asked here

rather than using xtreme download manager made by some one called subhra das gupta from god knows where o_O

The dev is quite active and respond's to user's requests, and a nice guy.

:D i re-phrase myself :

i would trust a company like tonec inc., a company with an office address...

rather than a sole developer irrespective of what his nationality is :)

http://sourceforge.net/ is a great platform for aspiring / wannabe developers & that is good for them...

but i use nothing from sourceforge or for that matter nothing that is opensource

which is why i prefer windows over ubuntu & windows phone over android :p

it is just a matter of personal choice & i was stating just that :)

Hi All,

This is the developer of XDM.

I was too a fan of IDM till my trial license expired.
Thought a free application that shares the similar functionality will be helpful to the folks like me who doesn't want to spend money on a download manager.
I would suggest go for IDM if you really want to buy it. Else XDM is there.
As for the bugs of XDM, I am trying my best to make it more robust and functional. For that I need support and feedback from you guys.

& any one with access to the code can tamper with it  i am not a fan of open source for that matter :(

SO

Really!. There are several popular application like Chrome, FileZilla, 7 -Zip (even FDM) are open source.

Hi, subhro finally you're here. :)

You should start a thread about Xtreme Download Manager in this forum. Similar to Download Ninja (Official Updates Thread) to gain more visibility.

hence windows 8.1...need i say more  hope you can read between the lines :p

your guess is as good as mine ;)

As subhro mentioned, there are very many open-source applications around, and why would you trust a product more that doesn't provide you with the source codes, than the one that provides you the same. LOL

If anything that could be sneaky would be the ones that doesn't provide.
