I agree what he talk in the video , indeed just like his said , It is very common to use VPN in China, and it's usually safe . But why we still hear some case that some people using VPN in China , and arrested by law enforcement ? I ask this questions to my China's friends , they told me , usually these people use VPN to do some serious illegal things , for example , drugs, bombs, harmful to national security , Or privately establish VPN services and have obvious illegal acts , but most people use VPN just for general use , such as visit Youtube, Google, Facebook , it is quite safe . In " All Things Secured " video , he said his phone was suddenly disconnected from the internet , because suspected that he may be using VPN or other apps . It never happen on me , i using China Mobile's services with VPN for whole two weeks , my phone had install many APPs like Skype、Viber、Line、Facebook、Youtube、Netflix、etc , and using VPN contact all the time . And my mobile services had never be cut off , but he are using China Unicom's services and living different city , maybe that is the different . By the way , because China is too big , there are many province , some of time , the different province had different policy , even the same telcos , whether the VPN service can be used will have different results . Back to the protocol discussion , after many people’s tests , to pass the Great Firewall in China, SSR and V2ray protocols are still had the highest success rate , SSR provides faster speed , v2ray provides a higher success rate but a little bit slower .
