I understand it it wrong, but when you watch these stars driving their Ferrari's and Lamborghini's and living in multiple 50,000 sq/ft homes I feel a lot less guilty about it.

Software Cracks: A Great Way to Infect Your PC : KrebsOnSecurity: http://krebsonsecurity.com/2011/06/software-cracks-a-great-way-to-infect-your-pc/

QUOTE:
'Do not download pirated software and cracks from filesharing networks and cracks sites because they are a major source of malware infections.'

'I hope it’s clear from reading this post that downloading pirated software and software cracks is among the fastest and likeliest ways to infect your computer with something that ultimately hands control over of your PC to someone else.'

'It is almost never safe to download executable programs from peer-to-peer file sharing networks because they are a major source of malware infections.'

And in the comments:

Cherry: 'Torrented files that are cleared, checked and and rechecked on sites with excellent reputations are unlikely to be malware.
Malware deliberately propagates itself via P2P, and idiots who shouldn’t use P2P download it and spread it around.'

KFritz: 'Russian roulette is played with all but one of the revolver’s chambers EMPTY. * The majority of the downloads don’t have to be infected for the propagators’ strategy to succeed. It’s better for them if most are safe. It persuades the unwary to take risks and download their toxics.
*Fer you youngins, revolvers are the odd looking handguns the cowboys carry in Westerns. Modern weaponry has made Russian roulette obsolete.'

andy1: 'When I was in grad school a decade ago, I was pretty indiscriminate about downloading cracks. I still had a few of those files hanging around on various backups. I was looking for some files recently and when I opened the folders on my current machine, there were a handful of virus/ malware files detected. My suspicion is that when I downloaded those, they were ahead of the antivirus signature files, but now they are found by regular scans. I guess one takeaway from this is that even if the crack you download now seems clean in a virus scan, it may just be that the virus in it is not yet detected…'

prairie_sailor: ' I would say that any download of something “free” that would normally be paid for is very risky for malware. While some of the “cracking” groups MIGHT not be loading their cracks with malware, malware these days generates a lot of money. It would certanly be very tempting for alot of those groups no matter what they say publicly. Does altruism really exist amongs theves? I doubt it.'

More of a Don't "pirate". Not all "Cracks" are malware, many people upload them to virustotal to see if they are or not and if they are malware people normally post a virustotal log along with the hash as proof. as for keygens, they just run them sanboxed. they're not dumb.

OK., Nathan Wootton, VT is not good for me: all these AV are blacklist check software, not seeing 0-day malwares, some rootkits etc..;)

Antivirus time is over.

Not good, these umbrellas ..

well good "pirates" use good protection I.e Norton they can easily get a trial reset for that app because they know what to do I.e My previous post.

only people who don't know the right site's and Allways Google stuff like Need for speed Blah blah.. FREE or KEYGEN or SERIAL are the ones who get infected ive had many many people bring me the pc full of malware from using google and click the first site on the that claims to give you the "full version" or "FREE".

i think if you was a former "pirate" you'd understand, as much as i do on how they go about there business

I could easily illegally download stuff (malware free, because i know where to look and how to safegaurd my pc) if i wanted but i don't because i choose not to, i have a job, i understand what effects it has on smaller company's aswell as bigger.

You did: 'I could easily illegally download stuff .. if i wanted but i don't because i choose not to, i have a job, i understand what effects it has on smaller company's as well as bigger.'
- You are on the way to victory! It's better for you and your employer.;)

Undeceive you - I never 'pirated', I do not consider such conduct in the future. This does not interest me at all, there is the huge choice in the free versions of software. Just be good 'researcher', it's not difficult - if you frequent the right trusted sites, like this MalwareTips.

But lately I rather remove than download ..and my PC goes faster!:D

In life there are those who ride and those who go down. We must choose the right camp.

'Because i press reply.....' - so press 'New reply' like me, then make useful quote (= without image).
But if you prefer to press 'Reply' button - then erase image link, it's so easy ..:D

'do you understand how replying works?' - yes, Sir.:D

Thanks ..:D

Have you seen how long some of your reps are? What makes you think i have the time to go through all of you text looking for [ codes?

Simple solution DONT post so many images then i wont have to quote you in reps, then you wont moan about me quoting you with images that you posted first!!! END OF DISCUSSION [img]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SrHVfDAYHg8/TjPAFT3S8GI/AAAAAAAABjQ/HrBbWZ7cCMg/s1600/simples.jpg

Tribler’ software makes Internet piracy impossible to stop: on RAWSTORY.com: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/08/tribler-software-makes-internet-piracy-impossible-to-stop/

QUOTE:
'A piece of software getting a fresh look this week seems to have the answer that media pirates are looking for: invincibility, with zero liability for website operators. That’s because this software, known as Tribler, does not require a website to track users sharing “Torrent” files, a peer-to-peer network protocol that enables computers to share files with thousands of others.'

'The nature of its technology is completely decentralized, leaving moderation to the users. Individuals can rename files, flag phony downloads or viruses, create “channels” of verified downloads, and act as nodes that distribute lists of peers across the network.
In the recent U.S. debate over anti-piracy measures, absolutely none of the proposed enforcement mechanisms would affect Tribler: it is, quite literally, the content industry’s worst nightmare come to life.'

So my new next avatar, if Jack accept it:
