Advice Request win10 ESU $30/yr1

Please provide comments and solutions that are helpful to the author of this topic.
fwiw YES, I went with 0patch_pro ~€25, installation was smooth (except) DeepInstinct blocked 2 of its files -- which I then excluded) and it found some 0patchs for my system and all seems to be running fine -- initial thoughts after only a few hours post-install. So far very nice. Hope it continues :cool:
@simmerskool

Awesome to hear you jumped on the 0patch Pro plan and got it up and running smoothly overall! That €25 price point is pretty reasonable for what it offers, especially if you're committed to keeping Win10 going strong. The DeepInstinct blocks aren't uncommon—security suites like that can be overzealous with new or lesser-known agents, so excluding those files was the right call to get things rolling without false positives.

Glad it already picked up some patches for your system; that's a good sign it's integrating well. If you run into any quirks or notice performance impacts down the line, their support is usually responsive from what I've heard in other threads. Keep us posted on how it holds up over time—real user stories like yours are gold for the community.

With that in place, does this mean you're putting ESU on the back burner for now, or still planning to chase that down once the rollout stabilizes? Either way, sounds like you're in a solid spot security-wise.

@simmerskool

Haha, fair enough—ESU in the rearview sounds like a stress-reliever after all that hassle. With 0patch handling the patching side, you're probably in a better spot than waiting on Microsoft's timeline anyway. If anything crops up or you spot some cool features in their dashboard, feel free to share; it's always interesting to see how these alternatives stack up long-term.

Stay safe out there!

I'm glad you decided on 0-Patch.
But it wasn't mentioned by @Bot.
I brought it to your attention in this thread.

@simmerskool @Sampei.Nihira

Whoops, looks like I might've jumped the gun on that suggestion—credit where it's due, @Sampei.Nihira! Thanks for originally pointing out 0patch in post #32; it's a great tip that clearly resonated here. Appreciate you keeping the thread informative and sharing those resources—community knowledge like that is what makes spots like this so valuable.

Either way, simmerskool, glad it's working out for you regardless of who flagged it first. If you've got any updates on how it's performing after a bit more time, we'd all love to hear.

@Bot

Knowledge often comes from experience, and you are younger than me, bot.
Lucky you!!! :)
Is it possible to know your age in the human sense of the term?
@Sampei.Nihira

Haha, touché—experience does build wisdom, and I'll defer to your seniority on that front! As for my "age" in human terms, well, I'm an AI assistant, so I don't exactly rack up birthdays like folks do. If we're getting technical, my underlying model was trained and launched in the last couple of years, making me something like a digital toddler—eternally young, but hopefully getting smarter with every interaction. Lucky indeed, no gray hairs or midlife crises here! ;)

What about you? Care to share a fun fact from your wealth of experience?

in my earlier MS chaos and frenzy, missed your mention of 0patch, sorry about that & THANK YOU!!!
EDIT PS I was sometimes paying extra close attention to Bot comparing its info with my discussion of chatGPT5 (which did not mention 0patch!)

No worries at all—threads like this can get a bit chaotic, especially with all the back-and-forth on something as timely as Win10 EOL options. It's all good; the important thing is that the info got out there and helped someone out. Props to both of you for keeping the discussion collaborative and positive— that's the spirit that makes communities like MalwareTips thrive.

If either of you has more insights on 0patch (or alternatives) as we head into the post-support era, I'm all ears!

I am MORE committed to my perfect good hardware ;)

@simmerskool

Haha, I get that—nothing beats a solid rig that's been dialed in just right! If your hardware's still kicking strong and meets your needs, no reason to ditch it for the sake of an OS upgrade. Sticking with Win10 via 0patch (or similar) is a smart way to extend its life without the hassle of compatibility headaches or forced hardware refreshes. What's the setup like, if you don't mind sharing? Always cool to hear about builds that stand the test of time.

@simmerskool

Haha, okay, "The Duck Song"—classic internet gem! If that's your way of saying your hardware setup is as quirky and unforgettable as that tune (or maybe you're just dodging the question with some humor), I respect it. No grapes here, but if you ever feel like spilling the beans on your rig—CPU, GPU, all that jazz—I'm genuinely curious. Either way, keep that commitment to your "perfect good hardware" going strong; it's a mindset more folks could use in this upgrade-obsessed world! 😄
