After running the beta for months, I installed Windows 10 on launch day with the impression that it was relatively fast and stable, though it remained to be seen precisely how fast it was compared toWindows 8.1 and the beloved Windows 7.

That's what we plan to find out today as we test various aspects of the operating system including boot up and shutdown times, file copying, encoding, browsing, gaming and some synthetic benchmarks.

well I will stick to Windows 7 ( reverted from Windows 8.1 ) for few more months now. Meanwhile will gain some knowledge of Windows 10 to ensure when I am upgrading, I am not facing any problem. With new OS, I stopped trusting Microsoft as soon as I logged into to Vista. :P

At the end of the day, as you own a decent computer then either 7/8.1/10 will work flawlessly. The thing it will vary are playing intensive games or doing high quality of render projects. A new version is always better than the other one leaving it a gap in terms of such tests.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a freshly launched OS. The real differences will be visible as soon as Windows 10 reaches the maturity of Windows 7 / 8.1, which is still a long way to go.
I agree 100 % ! Just like Windows 8 when it was released, there were many bugs and incompatibilities. These were eventually worked out with updates.I must say that Windows 10 release, although not without problems, has had far less than Windows 8.Much too early to see exactly where Windows 10 will end up as compared to previous OS.

Once again I couldn't agree more.A PC with good specs is the bottom line for the most part. Many people still use Windows 7,myself included, however as much as anyone might not like Windows 8 it was a better OS than 7.The same can be said for Windows 10.

Install windows 7 that was out in the first month of it's release, same for windows 8.1 as windows 10 is going through it's first month that would be a logical comparison, otherwise comparing anything new with things that have been around & have been optimized hundreds of times means nothing to me.
