I'm not sure what really happened, I had just done a full reinstall of pro & had just about sorted it & on reboot all 6 drives were locked, as I have 2 SSD's but they are partitioned, the worrying thing then was I was not able to add my codes anyhow I tried and C:\ could not be unlocked whatever I did so I imaged back to a few days earlier then was able to unlock C:\ then had to format the other drives & recopy all data to them from external drive - This meant I was back to the old install that worked though & a few days later I reinstalled again & all went well.
It did seem the system had a total nervous breakdown as there was no way I could unlock the drives even with the codes. I used earlier codes for C:\ from my MS account after I'd imaged back for the OS drive & was able to unlock C:\ - The most fortunate thing was, all my data was on external drives maybe 2.5TB & I had imaging, all was well in the end but was a concern at the time, I have never used bit-locker myself though so the OS did it - Lesson, for me for future, keep locker codes on a USB stick always, ideally more than one & never keep an external drive plugged in when doing stuff I was fortunate that I hadn't but have more than one external anyway, if i had one & it was plugged in it too would have been locked!
Needless to say it was a difficult day!
