It depends on the end user; some might like it, while others won't. Personally, I dislike that both Snaps and Flatpaks often fail to respect system theming, after all, Linux is about customization! However, if you’re happy with Ubuntu’s default theme, which is beautiful in my opinion, you won’t have any issues.
It is not about customisation for me. First both Snap and flatpak occupy storage and instead of downloading a 100 Mb .deb installer, you end up downloading 500-800 MBs. Let's not forget about the increase in ram consumption, especially by snap
if it is related only to themes, not issue. What is more important for me is security, stability, and performance

i checked the article, and personally, I see no issues. I like App Center and the ability to check for updates for all my apps instead of CLI. This may be a deal breaker if you have a server or your sys admin who wants to control everything. As for the old laptop, I do not see an issue, and for sure, there is a workaround to remove it, but I do not think this needs the effort. Pop OS has a dedicated app centre and it comes without snap. Linux Mint too has a dedicated app centre and it does not ship with snap. Elementary OS, MX Linux and Souls too
Ultimately, this comes down to personal preference. There are no inherent issues with using any package manager; you can test your favorite applications across each one and choose the one that feels most comfortable for you.
Snap goes against the open source philosophy of Linux. It is closed source and is resource intensive. Having snap, flat pak and .deb packages running on the same system is not wise.
Personally, I prefer native packages (DEB, RPM) over other formats. My main reason is that the primary purpose of Snaps and Flatpaks is to deliver the latest software versions across all distributions with minimal effort from developers. Since I mainly use web browsers, which receive updates regardless of the package type, I find no additional advantage in using alternatives. The only exception for me is Bitwarden, which I use as an AppImage. However, other users' needs may vary, so I understand the value of using Snaps or Flatpaks.
When I read the discussions about the various Linux versions, Snap, Flatpak, and so on, it puts me off switching from Windows to Linux. I imagine most Windows users feel the same way. In my opinion, this means Linux will never replace Windows as the operating system for the mass market.
yes as i said before this depend on personal preference. i see Ubuntu development and support is much better as they have their commercial solutions and not depend only on denotations so possibility for funding issues or project support to die possibilities is much lower so LTS will withstand for much time and software development for this package will be good.
i am windows user and i would say Linux is very good OS for Privacy full control power users . it is all depending on the user . we get used to windows but imaging if Microsoft bankrupt tomorrow and OS became abbonded we will had to learn and adapt lol
Btw it is no different in Windows. No many software has shifted development to Electron which is, to my understanding, packing the Chromium engine in the app. It consums an insane amount of ram. Now if you're using Bitwarden for Windows and a couple of other Electron-based app watch ram consumption.
I see but other distros are also based on Ubuntu but with refinement, but if you like Ubuntu and it is running well on ur system then why not.
Completely agree at the end user preference make the decision and it is up to end user to decide depend on its need and that is what make Linux powerful instead of Windows constraint you can even create your own custom OS if you have the skills and experience
So basically on your system your running
1- native packages
2- snap
3- flat pak
4- app image
For me this is a no go. I'd go flatpak only or native only. That's my philosophy.
That it is . it is experimental and if there any other distro which satisfy any requirement i need i may shift why not lol
so Ubuntu and Debian is the origin and the other are based on it . so if those dies the other one may be . so i go to the original lol even from development wise it will have step head
Linux is not Ubuntu. There is Arch, there is Fedora and there is OpenSuse.
