App Review Windows Firewall- An extremely Brief Test

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

Interesting and straightforward test, Windows Firewall works as much as possible to be silent at default settings and sometimes preloaded applications we use everyday are already allowed the connection (incoming/outgoing) and to make it better advance settings (WF) to add rules. But thanks from tiny tool like Tinywall, Windows Firewall notifier and others provides active notification for possible connection with a user permission and enhanced better configuration.

Well said, James. No matter what enhancement is made, some sort of Outbound protection is at all times of critical importance- because Windows Firewall by itself is far, far from being "enough".

It's really way past the time when things like Inbound only Firewalls and security solutions based on definitions can be considered adequate. But I suppose the change from the Horse and Buggy to automobiles was also difficult.

(ps- thank you all for the kind comments)

Should not allow the bad guys in at the first place then 2-way firewall may not be useful.Anyway this is just one test and hardly worth worrying about.

You are really missing the point here...if your anti-malware solution is by-passed,then a FW with outbound protection is the "last man standing" in stopping the "bad guy" calling home.Simple as that.

I'd agree with you, if most of the third party firewalls provided adequate inbound protection: http://www.av-comparatives.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/avc_fw_201403_en.pdf . As for which hips/av system will protect you, well, pick whatever particular brand of snake oil you like best.
