double clicking any folder on windows harddrive opens up a new window with the folder normally it sohuld open in the same window

please help i dunno how to change the settings on the folders

Open File Explorer > Expand Ribbon > View > Options. In Folder Options, under General and Browser folders. Make sure 'Open each folder in the same window'. Click on Apply and OK.

its already checked as that i just had a look in my drives
