I had a similar email from Emsisoft yesterday, makes a good point that one of the biggest threats to our online privacy is ourselves - I do attempt to make that point to acquaintances but few listen & tell all on SM etc

Also, to never forget is a good dose of common sense. Or as a bank commercial used to say in the Netherlands "Hang op, klik weg, bel uw bank", tl: "Hang up, close it, call your bank". Or in this case, uninstall, shutdown or call someone that knows more and can help you.
