Hi
Just got this issue three hours ago and it's getting on my nerves for real.. I'm really considering formatting my pc just because of it :(

I'll copy-paste what I wrote in the "steps taken in order to remove infection" field:

First I went into task manager and removed every weird and newly created task and its files.. they all had the same creation time. At the same time deleting any file with the same creation time near that location. Then looked around google and found someone recommending Adware Removal Tool by TSA which I used. It removed the mywebsearch hijacking and asked to restart, but then came another issue "tohot-something". And I ran adware removal tool again which did the job.. or so I thought because it came back. So I ran it again and it removed it again and I haven't restarted yet and running the tool again won't show "files found" but there're still ads everywhere.
One thing I noticed is, after running the tool and it fixing the issue there're no problems... until I enable an extension that is.. the moment I enable one everything comes back. I have RES and Mcafee site advisor but I removed them before making this thread.
Also when I first attempted to write the thread the laptop was being slow as hell and freezing and being noisy and the page crashed.. now nothing is happening.

Also I couldn't attach AdwareCleaner log because my system won't allow the software.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.

Thank you very much.
I ran the tool and it asked to restart and now I'm here right after the restart. You said after I should let it complete its run after the restart.. I don't understand what you mean by that? should I run it again and choose something?
In case you didn't mean that I'm attaching the fixlog txt.

And should I check to see if the problem is fixed or just run the other tool before checking now?

Didn't run the second tool, but it seems to be all good so far. You have no idea what this means to me especially since I just got this pc no more than 4 days ago (yep already harming it yay me!) so thank you very much!!
Just in case after restarting it comes back.. should I redo the whole thing or just run the second one?

Hi the issue is (somewhat) back but at least I'm back too, right
ok :p

So it's not as bad as before, there doesn't seem to be ads popping up when clicking anywhere, but so far I noticed that chrome would start on "tohotweb" even though I never changed it from "new tab page". And the option is still "new tab page" even.
Also no new software were installed in the past week or so apart from printer driver, which I've had for over a year now, as far as I remember.

Welp it's gone.. but I noticed it wasn't there when I started chrome to check the thread, before resetting, so I don't know what's up with it.
sorry for troubling you.

hey sorry for bumping this up again, I can create a new one if this is bothering anyone.

Anyway, the issue is back again and this time it's kind of more consistent (appears more frequently when clicking anywhere on certain pages) and I tried resetting chrome and deleting history but it did nothing.

while I'm talking about issues, my laptop already gets freezes/crashes (most times graphics card) too often now when playing games (at least League of Legends).. could this be related?
