I've been trying to update to Java Platform SE 8 U5. Whenever I run it, I get an error message saying : "The procedure entry point RegDeleteKeyExA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll". (See screenshot.) It's all Greek to me. I don't know if this is an error in the installation file or my system, but it sounds to me like the latter.

I have tried both the 1586.exe and the 1586-iftw.exe versions.

did you try turning it off and on again?

Do you mean rebooting the computer? I have done that, and that didn't help.

SE 8 U5 not compatible with Windows XP

try JavaRa to update Java

[edit]

Here is a workaround I found, but I haven't tried it yet. HTH

Thank you very much for that information. I will get JavaRa. and I will try that workaround.
