As you can see (at the very bottom) I like Sandboxie Free
www.sandboxie.com which now containing this Chrome browser inside of a virtual
sandbox that's somewhat like a shield.
Think of a sandbox as the rolled up windows of your car when it starts to rain or when you approach a cloud of dust thus keeping the automobile's interior untouched.
This also lets you test drive extensions as any that are added on while using a sandbox are only installed temporarily (including all updates) as they disappear once the sandbox is deleted.
You cannot go wrong including Malwarebytes Antimalware
https://www.malwarebytes.org/ Free Version to your system.
Chrome is my most used browser,
and there are many extensions which can be added to it,
although of the many bits of wisdom I've learned here at MalwareTips which I've actually taken to heart, there is the fact that too many added extensions can slow down browser performance.
So, keeping in mind that too much may not be good, here are the few security extensions I recommend for Chrome.
- An add blocker is essential, and AdGuard Adblocker https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adguard-adblocker/bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg is among the extensions I've adopted after being both reviewed & highly recommended by members here.
- Ghostery https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ghostery/mlomiejdfkolichcflejclcbmpeaniij blocks trackers, and you can read about how.
- ZenMate https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/zenmate/fdcgdnkidjaadafnichfpabhfomcebme works similarly to a VPN (Virtual Personal Network) by encrypting your movements and disguising your true location.
I also happen to use the native (installed) AV (Microsoft Security Essentials) & Windows Firewall included with our own Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. They get the job done well,
that is until my common sense (..or my
wife) decides otherwise.
