ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware for Mac, although touted as Anti-Ransomware solution, includes the following features:
  • Online and Offline Reputation: Blocks all sorts of malware by using fuzzy hashes. Even malware for other platforms such as Windows, Linux, ARM and Android.
  • Anti-Phishing, including Real-Time analysis and dangerous page blocking.
  • EFR engine provides behavioural analysis, damage recovery and ransomware rollback on Mac.
  • Very easy to use, completely automated with 0 configuration.
For now, beta is free.

Thank you for sharing this information about the new ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware for Mac. It's great to see it includes features like Online and Offline Reputation, Anti-Phishing, and a behavioral analysis engine. The fact that it's easy to use and currently free in beta is also a plus.

I’ve been using this “beta” (which is actually based on the well-released 87.80 Harmony Endpoint engines) for over 2 months with no issues. Results may vary from device to device.

To uninstall, use AppCleaner (free app) which is the equivalent of the Windows Revo uninstaller.

any issue (potential issue) running ZA anti-ransomware with Malwarebytes on macOS? High(er) level Apple tech recommended only running Malwarebytes, if anything, on Mac, but that was 2+ years ago. I tend to trust & like Checkpoint Harmony and just coincidence I'm running VM with ZoneAlarm firewall this evening. Once upon a time I had a 3d-party av wreck my macbook_pro, so tend to go minimalist on macOS. But expect I'll try this beta on my one of my Macs.

I haven’t ran into any issues to be frank and the 87.80 engines now are well established. I do not expect you to experience any erratic behaviour either, but Malwarebytes will have to be removed.

Carefully remove Malwarebytes using AppCleaner and then try this beta.

Also, Apple now doesn’t allow Kernel Extensions anymore (unless you go through a complicated procedure to re-allow them) so chances of a screw up are very narrow. Now, AVs just run as a normal, high-level app with a bunch of permissions.

just wondering, can I leave mbam on the macOS but turn off its real-time monitoring and only use it as occasional on-demand scanner along with ZA anti-ransomware?? Or will ZA not install or force the removal of mbam?

You can keep it as an on-demand scanner, but it won’t add much value.
