Question Antivirus-Android

Please provide comments and solutions that are helpful to the author of this topic.
All four are reputable antivirus apps. Your choice should depend on your specific needs. ESET is known for its minimal impact on device performance, Avast offers a lot of free features, Norton provides excellent malware protection, and Kaspersky is praised for its robust security suite. Consider these aspects and also check user reviews and pricing.

None. It will just juice your battery for nothing.

Want security on Android?

1. Install ad blocker
2. Turn on Google Play Protect
3. Regularly update your apps and Android OS
4. Install only popular apps you trust and from trusted sources (Google Play, F-Droid, APKMirror,...)
5. Don't open suspicious links in messages or e-mails

I second this advice, you don't need more than that.

I tend to pay attention to what I click on the Internet.
But that's why people can be careless sometimes.
Such an application would be used for protection against phishing.
Kaspersky is strong protection.
But the application may be sanctioned elsewhere.

Get something like nextDNS instead its much better phishing protection than any antivirus

Which of these should I install?
Eset
Avast
Norton
Kaspersky
Do you download applications from Google play store or 3rd party often? Are you just in need of phishing protection? Ads bothering you?

These are considerations to take into account before deciding. Personally I use a VPN with ad, malware, phishing blocking built in which also provides extra security and privacy via encryption. Of course I do not download applications often or at all, as I mostly use preinstalled apps on a stock android, I do have a couple 3rd party apps but they have been vetted fully before doing so.

Your use of the device has a lot to do with determine what you actually need or should use. I prefer the VPN if I'm going to deal with any extra battery drainage as its worth the little extra.

People really underestimate Google's Safe Browsing protection. It's used by all major browsers and quickly discovers new phishing and malicious websites. It just needs to be enabled in browser's settings in case you disabled it before (it's enabled by default).
Also, user can set up Quad9 DNS for additional protection on network-level. Or use AdGuard Public DNS which also blocks ads.

There really isn't a need to install any app to be protected on Android. Even Google Messages app notifies you when you get suspicious message and warns you about it. Google Phone app, on the other hand, warns you and block all those scam phone calls.

There's a reason why we don't see many Android devices infected any more. Google realized that Android as a platform was vulnerable to malware like Windows was, so they had no other option then to step up in security game. They done that by limiting what apps can do without user's permission and disallowed apps to integrate further into the OS itself.

In reality, all these antivirus apps on Google Play have one purpose and that's to up sell you products you don't really need. Install one and you'll see bunch of "inactive" protection modules and you'll get notifications to subscribe for more. And all of that at the cost of battery life. The less number of apps you have installed, the better.

Regarding Norton, i had it like 3-4 months ago on my android phone, and i decided to test it, with eicar virus file, i manage to download each file, Norton was sleeping, tried same test with Avast and later Kaspersky, both blocked the download, no eicar file got through. I like Norton, but for my android experience, just sucks!

Some antiviruses work different and will let you download the malicious file(s), but it will detect and block it when you try to run it. Personally, I'd prefer it to be blocked before downloading, but apparently, that's not the case with every product. I used to see this behaviour on many AV products back in the day when I tested them.

Maybe with the exception of DNS filtering; NextDNS, ControlD, AdGuard DNS, etc.
I tried these DNS servers.
That was the ping.
Cloudflare 8,27
Google 11,81
Next 13,48
Adguard 23,95
I liked NextDNS because of the ad blocking.
But it's like they don't develop it.
Adguard has a higher ping value. This value is high?
Which one should I use? (Chrome-android-DOH)
