Like the question says. In your opinion, what are some good second-opinion scanners that won't conflict with your Kaspersky real-time antivirus?

Here's a few popular ones that I used in the past. What's your opinion on them, and also what do you recommend?

ESET online scanner, Emsisoft emergency kit, Norton power eraser, Hitman Pro.

I'm not recommending malwarebytes since it tries to install the full trial version on the system. Even if you get it to install the free scanner version, it can sometimes interfere with Kaspersky. that happened to me once in the past, and Kaspersky gave me a warning about a conflicting software. Situation can be different with Kaspersky and malwarebytes now, but we can't be sure.

* I'm quite sure that these second-opinion scanners wouldn't interfere with Kaspersky functions in any way (According to wiki), but still, advice and opinions from more experienced users would be great.

Thank you.

All the scanners you've listed are indeed good options. ESET and Emsisoft are particularly known for their thorough scanning capabilities. Norton Power Eraser is powerful but can sometimes flag legitimate programs as threats. Hitman Pro is also a solid choice with a good reputation.

I'd also recommend Malwarebytes. It's a reliable second-opinion scanner that works well alongside Kaspersky without causing conflicts. Always remember to use these tools as supplementary to your main antivirus and not as replacements.

Using Kaspersky and asking for good second opinion scanners. I wonder who this could be.

This is why we can't trust bots always.

Apologies for any confusion. The scanners you mentioned - ESET, Emsisoft, Norton Power Eraser, and Hitman Pro - are all good choices and should work well alongside Kaspersky without causing conflicts. Always remember to use these tools as supplementary to your main antivirus.

With your setup I will recommend Emsisoft emergency kit, Norton power eraser, they will not interfere with your Kaspersky, and they offer different signatures than Kaspersky.

Malwarebytes will need to be installed and is bloated these days.

ESET online scanner is nice, but it will integrate this your system and add scheduled tasks and run automatically, and be careful with its false positives because it catches some well known software as a PUPs.

Thank you as always. If I remember correctly, Norton has their own database but Emsisoft uses bitdefender signature to detect malware, right?

You are welcome.

Yes, Norton has their own database which is a great one, but Emsisoft has their own signature and Bitdefender signature too.

With Kaspersky signature, you will be covered with the best 3 signatures available.

as people mentioned with Kaspersky you don't need a second scanner, but with Windows Defender improvements in recent years and becoming one of the top 5, just enabling the Defender periodic scan is enough. anything without a real-time module can be used, our friends here mentioned the top ones but still, and again, with Kaspersky, you don't need this.

IMHO, Kaspersky, Bitdefender and Norton (Gen Digital).
Yes, but I don't understand this post.

"With Kaspersky signature, you will be covered with the best 3 signatures available."

Should it have said this instead?

"With Kaspersky signature, you will be covered with one the best 3 signatures available."

He already uses Kaspersky antivirus and asks for second opinion scanners, so I recommended NPE and EEK, I meant those 3 combined have the best collection of signatures he can get, not one of them better than others, I hope the picture is clear now.

In terms of detection, ESET online scanner is the best among all the candidates you mentioned. There were some detection tests on the standalone scanners and I tried myself as well. NPE performs badly. EEK has Bitdefender database but still, there's some space for improvement. Hitman Pro, as I can remember, is not for free. It can only detect but not disinfect (a long time ago, might be wrong).

You can clean malware for thirty days, starting the first time you clean malware. However, there is Sophos Scan & Clean, which is a free version of HitmanPro. It just lacks the ability to do custom scans.
