Technology Antropic releases New Coding AI. Indian Tech Stocks Fell

social well‑being
Social well-being is exactly what a government needs to look after in a world of guaranteed income. Employment is no longer a goal. Because AI has taken away most low level jobs. Instead the goal is to make sure everybody is happily self-directed, like giving crayons to a kindergarten class and letting the children draw whatever they want.

Thanks for bringing up that image, @Victor M . I agree that the metaphor of the crayons captures well the moment we’re living: AI doesn’t just change the labor market, it also forces us to rethink what we mean by well-being. If employment stops being the central axis, we need new ways to provide purpose and security. Creative freedom is valuable, but so is the responsibility to ensure no one is left without colors. In that sense, the debate is not whether AI takes jobs, but whether we know how to build a classroom where everyone can draw their future. 🎨🤝

Don`t really know what all the fuss is about ? It`s just another step in human evolution which has been well sign posted for well over 10 years at least.

Remember Bill Gates saying he wanted a personal computer in everyone`s home by a certain date, the crazy fool as MrT would say ? Nowadays everyone has one in their pocket and that includes the fringe members of society.

AI is just another tool with upsides and downsides which hopefully will be a boon depending on how it is implimented.

People are very adaptable so stress not.

I saw that anthropic / claude offers new coding AI (I've been learning some python doing astronomy coding with some help from chatgpt) so I went to claude yesterday, bought a 1 month pro plan, (they wanted me to pay for a full year upfront ) and I found the claude sign-up somewhat awkward, and then once I was signed up, the prompt interface was awkward and wanted me to pick one of 3 topics for discussion, nothing I wanted to discuss btw. I mentioned my initial anthropic disagreeable experience to chatgpt and it agreed with me :ROFLMAO: what's the key to liking claude, or is my claude experience unique...

People will adapt but the fabric of society will be damaged if people are not working. That is a huge part of coming of age and being a grown up/adult is having a job. Take away the self esteem and confidence of holding full time work for people and you will get a torrent of mental health and drug addiction issues (even more so than now) due to boredom and not having meaning or purpose in life.

Yup, seems like it didn't go as well as I thought. ;)

Finland basic income trial left people 'happier but jobless'
Nordic nations are not a good way to evaluate such a huge social policy shift of supplying people with free money for nothing.

The sample study of Finland does not guarantee success in much larger countries or worldwide. In fact it probably dooms it success due to the small size of Finland.

Basic income does = living wage, all you need to do is look at welfare payments. They are not living wages, they just keep people from homelessness if that.

It also doesn't guarantee people will become better people once they are paid a UBI. People who have full time meaningful employment is better for society and the world.
