We've released APIVoid Browser Protection, a browser extension designed to allow only trusted websites and file downloads:

This extension can lock down your browser to only allow access to trusted websites and downloads of specified file types.

You can view blocked events, customize the "blocked domain" page with your own logo, and manage whitelists.

With the Enterprise option, you can set a remote URL for your whitelist (domains and file types), which will be automatically updated every N minutes.

All settings can be easily exported and imported across browsers or devices.

Here's a screenshot of the main interface:

I think it is more directed for the corporate market (Browser Lock also options to brand it, using a company's logo etc), but also for private use there are some use cases.

I use two browser profiles, one for work and one for surfing. The work profile has all (Chromium browser) site permissions on default, the surfing nearly all on block/don´t allow. Besides the websites (around 10) i use for work, I also use video (vimeo and youtube videos used in lessons to explain something). That is a really brilliant use use case for Browser Lock. When I use Browser Lock, I wondered why nobody else has thought about it earlier.

You could also use Browser Lock in a browser profile when you do sensitive stuf (e.g. entering tax data in governmental websites or doing e-banking et cetera). I will be probably using my work profile for other sensitive stuff as well (think of tax, retirement funds and benefits, social security, health care insurance and banking), but I will add them on the go (and when everything works disable the proceed option).

So for real world private use cases, you should als consider using different browsers or browser profiles (y)

I first thought I had forgotten the domain, but when I log in to my work account (with a link companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/portal),
I get a block (domain is whitelisted) on file type download, while I can´t see anything awkward in the href=¨link" when I inspect the page.

The log also does not explain which file type is blocked. My work is a business university which relies heavily on Microsoft and IT is outsourced
(so it probably is a pretty standard Microsoft environment). I will PM you the link.

@LinuxFan58

Please try this:

1) Add "aspx" in the "Trusted File Types"

This should fix the block of "File type not in trusted downloads list".

Then, if not already done, just add this domain on trusted domains (I got it after a few redirects):

Code:
microsoftonline.com

It works here for me, let me know.

Adding aspx did the trick (y)(y)(y).

I have an additional feature request.

I know this extension is directed to corporate market, so it makes sense to NOT show an ON-OF switch in the extension popup. As a home user I would appreciate an ON-OFF in the extension popup;
