AV-TEST AV-Test The best Windows antivirus software for home users (February 2023)

Disclaimer
  1. This test shows how an antivirus behaves with certain threats, in a specific environment and under certain conditions.
We encourage you to compare these results with others and take informed decisions on what security products to use.
Before buying an antivirus you should consider factors such as price, ease of use, compatibility, and support. Installing a free trial version allows an antivirus to be tested in everyday use before purchase.

(Test antivirus software for Windows 10 - February 2023)
While TM’s performance was rated very highly in AV-Test, it was poorly rated in AV-Comparative. :ROFLMAO:
Unfortunately, ESET and Defender were unable to obtain the TOP product certification.

Any single test with 400 samples per 2 months cannot be reliable. Anyway, the cumulative results of many such tests (two or three years of testing) can show the real differences between the real-world protection of some AVs. The differences between popular AVs are very small (probably negligible in practice).
Generally, these tests show that it is hard to be infected at home, except when one intentionally engages in risky actions (like searching for cracks, pirated software, etc.). The chances of infection are similar to the chances of severe injury in a traffic accident.
These tests do not show the direct detection of never-before-seen malware (especially payloads).
