Bitdefender engine/signatures are cheaper to purchase by other companies ;)

Just going to VT, there comparing some fresh uploaded malware samples, BD is rarely seen there within 10 hours after the first submission.

I don't think most of the companies that buy Bitdefender firms are cheap. They buy them because they are one of the best on the market.

I meant it's probably cheaper to purchase signatures from BD instead to purchase signatures from Kaspersky...

Okay, that sounds even more acceptable to me, BD is for sure one of the best on the market!

Αgree with that. Qihoo 360 TS the signatures is more fast from bitdefender. But many times fresh malware samples without signature in VT Bitdefender blocking the sample by cloud . That's what I saw in the recent tests I did on Bitdefender free 10 days ago. That's why I said that I saw some slight improvement in his protection compared to a year before. But he definitely has to improve on that.

Windows Defender with ConfigDefender. If I worried what was the latest and greatest 'best,' I'd be changing AV software every couple of months. Find one that works for you, that you feel comfortable with, and stick with it. Eventually, it will be the best other than maybe PCMatic or similar.

I used Comodo firewall for many years along with AVAST both free and paid. Comodo is a mess, and AVAST is a thief. I will say that while using them nothing ever got past. I doubt I'll ever use them again because of the trouble......although if Comodo ever gets its act together, I'd be more apt to return to them. They're just incompetent
. AVAST knew what was going on, and participated.

Yes, that you don't want to accept is your problem. For some reason Bitdefender is the engine most used by other companies and is the one with the most customers worldwide.
Norton has a very big user base, I really doubt Bitdefender is bigger.

And as far as I know, only Kaspersky has SDK engine to sell.

Just launching things takes forever with WD. Like FOREVER. And my system isn't slow by any metric. It gets even worse on netbook with eMMC and Atom where my apps take several seconds to launch where with Kaspersky or avast! takes like half a second. Opening Downloads folder full of installers and EXE files is even worse.
What Atom CPU? Most Atom CPU's take 1 to 2 seconds to launch programs even with SSD and no AV installed. Launching programs in half a second sounds incredible, you probably are the luckiest man on earth having an Atom CPU with I5 processing power.

I'm still scratching my head over Quick Heal's protection result
Der.Reisende any thoughts?
They have a very good BB IMO
Kinda HIPS being so granular, but fully automated
With signature updates only once a day (or two, three updates), they desperately need it. It still cannot block everything by BB of course
However, I would not buy it again, because of the steep price and the very bad signatures mean an infection will remain undetected for days.

Avast performance 5.5....and AVG with 5?
can this be true? i thought it's the same product, the same signatures and blocker, just another GUI.
I have managed to get AVG installed on my sister's laptop. There is something wrong with AVG for sure. It is causing unprecedented noticeable system slowdowns. Startup is delayed and very high CPU usage.

I'm not sure if you installed the Pro or Free version of AVG. In case it is the Free version and you want to try the Pro version it is currently available for free on a 1 year license on a well known software giveaway site for another 2 days.

Personally, I wouldn't use it because of Avast's recent behaviour with regard to users privacy etc.

It is the paid AVG Internet Security not the free version.
