Is Avast one still actively maintained? I’m considering purchasing it after my ESET license expires since unlike Avast Ultimate, I don’t how to download the VPN & PC tuneup separately but instead they’re baked into the product. The only thing I’ll be missing is the Anti-track but then again I use Brave & Edge with uBo. So I guess that’s not required for me. Pricing is also more or less the same in my region as compared to Ultimate.

Yes, I agree. For example, I want to use Malwarebytes, but it’s blocked in my country, and on the websites where I can buy it, it ends up being more expensive due to the exchange rate.

A few months ago Avast One seems to have been updated completely. You can now choose which apps you want to install and it seems to use your existing subscriptions (e.g. Premium Security, Cleanup) instead of being a separate subscription.

Old Avast One is still available and being updated for existing users, don’t know how long this will last.

I haven’t tried the new one myself yet, but it looks like it is more of a ‘launcher’ app from which you can install the other apps. Some apps are fully integrated after installation, for others it just provides shortcuts.

So you can remove/not install unwanted apps, I’m not sure if you can also choose components within a specific app.

Avast One essential has the same components of Avast free; unfortunately, you cannot remove any component after installation as in the case with the former Avast free or the current AVG free.

It seems indeed that New Avast One is replacing the old apps (Free Antivirus, Premium Security). You can view this on the Avast website in some countries (US, UK). In other countries it is still offered alongside the old apps (DE, FR) and most other languages still only offer the old apps.

In other news: licenses for Legacy Avast One can now be used in New Avast One. Presumably Legacy Avast One will be discontinued in the future.

There are no changes to AVG currently. I don't know if there will be in the future, as they have co-existed for many years now.

I think what Avast has done with Avast "One" is they have made it purely a subscription model. For example with Avast or AVG you can go on line and purchase a 10 dollar license for 1PC for 1YR... But with Avast "One" you have to buy a subscription, or you can go with the free version of Avast one, like I have done, and use Voodoo Shield with it or use Avast One as solo. Thus Avast/Gen D: Decided to make Avast "One" a full package, AV+Firewall+Anti-malware+anti-Ransomware (even the free version offers all this.... BUT it is a Gen Digital Product, and some feel that the whole line owned by Gen Digital has gone cheap, like buying something from K-Mart or Walmart, or McDonalds.
