Does anyone know why AVG (and Avast) only has subscriptions either for 1 or 10 devices? Where is the 3-5-7 options that some of the other AV's provide?

I did have a Chat session with AVG support, she mentioned that's all they had, and thanks for my feedback. She said if I bought the 10 license version I could give some of the keys to family and friends, I declined that suggestion. She also said I could run a free trial of IS and I said no, because if I liked it, it would only be for 1 or 10 devices. I was just looking for a 5 device subscription, but I guess it's not possible?

So for now, I'm sticking with the free version that has been working wonderfully :)

Thank you, my friend, I appreciate it :) My only concern is if I like it, it would still involve a 10 license purchase, but, I could always pare it down to the 1 notebook that I use faithfully (1 license key). This morning I did get an email from AVG saying I had 72 hours to follow up, which I'm sure they would provide a free ultimate trial, as she said I could get with IS.

So let me see what they can do for a trial version, and if I like it, I may take you up on your offer :) Thanks again :)

Hmmm if you assume an average family of 4, that's usually 2 devices/person computer + phone or tablet +phone with the eventual trio of computer + phone + tablet. Probably why a 10 installations license became popular enough that they don't bother with a smaller one.

Yes, you're right, as a single guy, I forget these things. It would still be nice if on the webstore for the single license key version, there was a drop down arrow for 1, 3, 5 devices? :)

or find 9 people to split the costs. Unless the terms say all devices must belong to you/your family

I'll bet it probably is, the one who purchased it being the guardian, the caretaker of the account, of the license key.
I'm a lawyer IRL and I just read they terms of service... you can't use the solution to administrate licenses to third parties... badly written I'd say. It means I can't install one of my 10 licenses on my wife's computer because she's a third party... I'd love to see this taken to court :)

You can't create a service that competes with them, so no renting the product

you can't publish any test without their consent

Actually, their terms of use for the corporate version is a little more restrictive.
