WoW! They are so desperate. Maybe Norton won't keep the Avira brand alive for too long. So they are trying to collect some cheap cash and user base whom they'll later migrate to Norton or Avast or something like that.
I could be totally wrong of course but 1 year license for $1 on their official global website is logical enough to make me suspicious about their future.

At that price it makes no sense for them to sell nacent activation keys. They would be undercutting their own reseller network and eBay would be flooded with cheap Avira keys in no time. Therefore I'd assume the clock is ticking on the licence key from the date of purchase.

For years, Avira's UI has been left in a mess.
As for the file walker, it hasn't changed its shape in over a decade. However, personally, I still think the design of the cute umbrella opening in the taskbar is excellent.
