App Review Avira Browser Safety Test

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

When you have Bitdefender you already have webprotection , no need for trafficlight.
I think Bitdefender webprotection and Avira browser safety would possibly conflict together.
It's possible that they would conflict but unlikely. I have had Avira Browser Safety on my PC with Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 & there have been no conflicts at all - same when I've tested it within my VM.

If one is desktop software blocking the websites and another is an extension then there shouldn't be a conflict. Desktop software will work completely different to the extension.

Avira Browser Safety is a great extension. I'm using it in my Chrome/Firefox browsers.

Coupled with the browsers' security features, uBlock Origin (default with all filters set) and BitDefender TrafficLight they form a powerful combo.

BitDefender TrafficLight sometimes in a blue moon will pop up in Chrome where the rest fail.

Avira Browser Safety seems to be more active in Chrome than in Firefox whilst BitDefender TrafficLight is the other way round.

You can test at malc0de and vxvault.net sites and compare the effectiveness of Avira Browser Safety and BitDefender TrafficLight for both in Chrome/Firefox browsers

The title of your thread is a bit misleading , stating " avira browser " , I thought it was going to be avira scout browser that was going to be tested :D. Avira's plug-in is indeed one of the best you can get , so whas their av in the past , when signature detection was still your main line of defense. They where on top of the game. But it always had an ugly gui : " a face only a Mother could love ". It is a shame that almost most of the security company's cram crap into their products ( comodo , AVG ,avast , Norton , AVG ) and so on. Its all unneeded imho. Focus on the points that do really matter and do not hide your weakness behind bloatware.

I just installed avira browser safety in chrome (instead of bitdefender trafficlight)
I also have Ublock origin.
I got a conflict message from Ublock, it complains about Avira:

Yes I have the same problem. Also between other extensions like HTTPS Everywhere and Web Boost in Chrome

I just leave them

The conflict most likely occurs because the chances are high that they both use the same method for interception of the web requests. In Google Chrome when developing an extension, you can add a listener for the onBeforeRequest function: chrome.webRequest.onBeforeRequest.addListener() - and through this method you can redirect/block the requests before they have been successfully completed.

I wouldn't recommend quoting me on this because I haven't checked if both extensions utilise this same method; it's merely just a good estimation on how they would work - there are definitely popular web browser protection extensions from other vendors (I won't name them out) who utilise this method, though.

I'm using ABS and uB without this problem. Try to disable in Avira's settings all additional options.

Not surprise for Avira Browser Safety addon, since it contains decent database to gather all zero day as possible.

Many enterprise, home and other institution may choose that tool because of high percentage rates and alongside of possible least bypass rate.
