Hello
Your config is not best but here are tips to make it better :)
  • ENABLE UAC! UAC can save your PC!
  • Install more on-demand scanners like a Zemana,EKK
  • Install Sandboxie to run apps in sandbox
  • Install LastPass
  • Backup your data to external HDD or cloud if you don't have any drive(exp. Dropbox,Mega)
  • Install CCleaner or PrivaZer
  • Change AdBlock to uBlock(It's better)
  • Install Https everywhere to your browser.
For me is Avira better :)
Thanks for sharing your config.

Avira will not protect:
  • Windows firewall
  • Windows UAC
  • Windows Security Center
  • Browser settings
  • Against malicious scripts not detected by signature
If you decide upon Avira it is best to surf using Windows' built-in Guest Account. This should prevent most malware from altering Windows firewall, UAC, Security Center settings if it gets past Avira's signatures and it is executed.

Best thing to do is to not "Run as Administrator" any unknown files until you've first verified them by uploading to Virus Total. "Run as Administrator" is a really bad idea for any unknown file.

Avira's signature is definitely stronger than AVG's however it comes down to using your knowledge to prevent an infection. Also AVG is not a bad product, although their software can be buggy at times it is still a very usable AV. The downside to Avira is that every time a threat is detected it will run a quick scan, while it may not be very irritating to a normal user because how often can you run into malware, it may be irritating if you are downloading malware for testing. Personally I would go for Avira.

Here are my suggestion(s):
  • Set UAC to default mode.
  • Start using a chromium web-browser such as Google Chrome - Optional.
  • Install plugins such as ScriptSafe / NoScript [Firefox] , Web of Trust, uBlock, HTTPS Everywhere, Ghostery.
  • Replace Adblock w/ uBlock.
  • Run HitmanPro & AdwCleaner along w/ Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as On-Demand scanners.
  • Replace AVG w/ 360 Total Security Essential (Best Free Anti-Virus).
  • Use Sandboxie or some type of certain Sandbox program to open unknown files.
  • Use CCleaner or Glary Utilities.

you meam use with a firewall like zone alarm firewall or comodo firewall ???

zonealarm is a simple two way firewall with no sandbox ( you can use sandboxie for that purpose alonside of zonealar free ) it offers hassle free protection. comodo on the other hand is very tweakable and needs to be configed correctly to be effective to the max. looking at your posts you do not strike me as a person ( do not take any offense in this :) ) as a very experience user so it is better to get zonealrm free firewall first and get comfortable with it.

also ditch adblock and get yourelf ublock or adguard. for backup get macrium reflect , easeus todo backup or aomei backupper standart , all of these are free and provide good backups ( I use aomei myself and it is very fast and reliable in backing up your files / partitions )

Enable UAC
Some type of on demand scanners (your real time AV is not your on demand scanner)
Some type of privacy software such as CCleaner or Privazer
Avg won't back up anything.Consider some type of back up solution
The extension suggestions that have are ready been posted

Well if we are going to adapt the combination of user reviews and testing organization then Avira has slighly in favor in terms of protection but AVG is good wihich incorporates Identity Protection feature, (Behavior Blocker to stops suspicious programs/processes)

But all of these should work with your common sense + awareness on the habits as you are been recently infected and it shouldn't happen again.

Anyway in browsers, its better to have a backup like Chrome or Opera with optimized extensions only as follows: HTTPS Everywhere and Adguard.
