In your opinion, which is the best extension to protect web browsing in terms of privacy and security among these:
- AdGuard
- uBlock Origin Lite
- Ghostery
Memory footprint of lite version is smaller; just need to move the slider to complete to get better ad blocking on certain websites such as YT.uBlock Origin (not Lite).
AdGuard Do you think it slows down the opening of WEB pages?Adguard is more efficient than uBlock origin lite; uBlock origin lite memory consumption is much less than Adguard; pick your poison.
A little bit; surfing is slightly faster with uBlock origin lite.AdGuard Do you think it slows down the opening of WEB pages?
Several dns servers can block some ads, trackers, and malware; ad blocking is less than extensions with no cosmetic fix but is sufficient if not wishing to use extension.I am currently using Ghostery which works well, blocks everything, fast browsing, the only doubt I have is about security against malware, phishing, etc.. which is not in the settings. In terms of privacy it seems to be good for what is declared.
In your opinion Ghostery? Is good?
I don't care about memory footprint and neither should you. The more memory ad blocker uses, the more resources are loaded and the faster it is in handling the ad blocking process. If you limit the memory, it will constantly load/unload filters increasing CPU usage and slowing down the web browser.Memory footprint of lite version is smaller; just need to move the slider to complete to get better ad blocking on certain websites such as YT.

Remember: unused memory is wasted money.
Beside, half of ad blocking capability is lost in Lite version. Normal (MV2) version has way more advanced blocking technologies that simply aren't available in Lite due to MV3 API limitations. Hence normal uBlock Origin offers more advanced ad blocking and privacy protection than the Lite version. This is also the reason why I switched to Firefox.
Never tried before; uBlock origin (lite) blocks trackers; Edge blocks trackers; why should I look for trackers blockers wthich is not blockin ads?In your opinion Ghostery? Is good?
I understand the first one, but not the last one. Care to explain?I care for my kids, and my RAM![]()
I have limited amount of RAM, so I try to keep a large fraction for browsing.I understand the first one, but not the last one. Care to explain?![]()
Ghostery also blocks ads and blocks them well even on YouTube videos.Never tried before; uBlock origin (lite) blocks trackers; Edge blocks trackers; why should I look for trackers blockers wthich is not blockin ads?
Tried it now; you are right, it is blocking ads just as uBlock origin. The only cons is a higher RAM usage.Ghostery also blocks ads and blocks them well even on YouTube videos.
If you have less than 8 GB RAM, you should definitely upgrade it ASAP (it's not expensive). If you have 8 GB or more, then you shouldn't care about it at all.I have limited amount of RAM, so I try to keep a large fraction for browsing.
Agree, although I cannot observe a significant difference between adguard and uBlock origin regarding security. In terms of security, AdGuard is better than uBlock Origin and Ghostery, but a specialized security extension will better than all of them.
