If you’re faced with the tradeoff between security and another priority, your answer is clear: Do security. In some cases, this will mean prioritizing security above other things we do, such as releasing new features or providing ongoing support for legacy systems. This is key to advancing both our platform quality and capability such that we can protect the digital estates of our customers and build a safer world for all.

It's great to see Microsoft taking a firm stance on prioritizing security over other aspects like new feature releases or legacy system support. This should benefit their customer base immensely in the long run.

The last time MS made a mandate on security was back in the Windows XP days, and the outcome was Vista, a good improvement over XP. It included mandatory security training for developers I remember, something that was very new then. Let's hope something of this magnitude comes out of this mandate.
