That's a little funny, but concerning at the same time.

We're they compromised?

Uninstalled it, as the app itself was creating BSOD many times. Can't afford to have so many crashes, when i am in the middle of something.
And its too heavy on my system, uses even more than Kaspersky. I wonder how come so many other players use their engine.

Many vendors are fond of Bit defender for simple reason : They run after detections which is liked my many vendors..though not much fp's exist but Bit defenders staunch (threshold) policies against Cracks, Keygens is no good..actually it does more harm in the long run
But product overall is very very effective ;)

Avast free seem to be the lightest of all. But does it provide the same level of protection offered by the resource hungry kaspersky and bitdefender ?:rolleyes:

No in my personal opinion..since BD and Kaspersky pro active components are highly skilled, matured and sophiscated but Avast gives good fight may not reach there..Go for KAF (kaspersky Free) it leads the race as of now in free segment

I think the certificate authority varied in both locations..moreover .in website seem to expire in few days
BD may not updated indian website authority information..so there is struggle in variation of the authorities

Kaspersky is far from a resource hog, suggest you re-test Kaspersky, this is not 2004. Avast is heavier than Kaspersky!
I have it running from a laptop from 2006 and there's no performance hit, so I'm confident in what I'm saying. There's also overall good reviews on it's performance (which is said to be extremely light).
Then again not all the systems are the same.
