Browser keeps on opening ads regularly (new tab) and popping ads on screen

I downloaded a movie from piratebay today and it seems that the movie was scam and fake. It cannot be played so i opened the codec fix exe file. I did not know that the program was a virus.

After executing the application, many other programs appeared on my desktop and my browser started to act like crazy. It opens an advertisement site every other minute and is very annoying. Chrome also keeps on displaying ad notifications at the corner of my screen. It never stops even though I already blocked the sites in Chrome's notification settings.

I tried ADWcleaner and uninstalled the programs that the virus installed. This somewhat solved the problem but the browser still keeps on popping up ads and creating new tabs. I tried Zemana Anti Malware but the problem still persists.

My laptop also became laggy.

Any help is appreciated.

I will attach the Zemana logs together with the FRST and the Addition text files.

Hello,

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.
