Have tried to remove: Cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net. Have used Malwarebytes, HitMan Pro, and AdWare Cleaner. None of them have found it for removal. Not sure where to go next. It mostly shows up as a blind pop-up when using Chrome. I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome to no avail.

Open for suggestions. Thanks

ok for real protection id recommend you to use another AV solution MSE is not a good idea when it comes to real time BB or others things besides it is hard on system resources. /you can try ESET, EAM etc/. As second opinión scanner i would user malwarebytes or EMK

"akamaihd" technologies is used to stream data to users eg: facebook uses their service to provide some contents. this service is used to provide acces to people among the whole world so, this domain is safe and no matter you do you cant avoid the connection to that service.

those pop ups... may be are related to another thing

Thanks for sharing your config :) "Cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net" I believe it is actually a type of adware/browser hijack that attaches to your browsers and causes the popups. So I guess technically it is malware.I am pretty sure this can be removed manually as well as removing all history and temp files such as with CCleaner.
If you can see the process in task manager end it
Go to control panel and see if it is listed in programs and uninstall it
Then clear all temp files and history
You might also want to check addons to your browser associated with this and remove them.I would also check FF & IE if you use them
I am by no means an expert in the field of malware removal and you might be better served by posting your problem here http://malwaretips.com/forums/malware-removal-assistance.10/
This will guarantee that the problem is effectively & completely removed

I'm having the EXACT same issue. I started a thread here about it, but no one has replied to me in almost three days. :( I'm not sure why. In my thread, I explain just how GNARLY this malware is, and it has gotten worse each day. I'm using the cpu as lightly as possible (pretty much only to check here if anyone is contacting me back, and then yesterday to search for a piece of furniture), and I am infiltrated with pop-ups now that try to come up as legit to the page I am actually supposed to be visiting, as well as a dropdown "coupon" tab attached to the true url tab - not a searchbar, but a tiny dropdown coupon tab over to the far right. My browser is barely functioning now - except for their pages, and the entire computer is slower. I am panicked, and this all happened in less than a week. Total meltdown, as it attacked. Nothing unusual shows up in task manager, nothing in programs, no add-ons in the browsers, and I've manually cleared all temp files, cookies, history, cache, and reset the browsers - and I lost all of my login info, but still have the malware. And the exact cleaners recommended here - and multiple others - have completely failed to detect it, much less get rid of it. I suspect this is much similar, since it is the same thing running it (cdncache-a...), to what this original poster is fighting.

My thread, in case it helps with understanding both his and my issue:

Do not click on any of the popups or coupons.Your thread has been posted in the malware removal forum already. They are very busy and provide this service for free, please continue with them.I realize it is hard to do given your situation but please be patient.I am confident that @TwinHeadedEagle or @argus will get your problem resolved

Thank you @exterminator20. :) Yes, I cannot believe you provide this service for free (except the rad donations I hope you guys get for your work when people breathe easy because their computers are working again!). I hope I didn't sound snarky about no reply yet. I'm worried I'm being forgotten about, but definitely understand that you all stay busy! I watch the forums and see how many people post.

Thank you for the advice. Yes, I'm definitely careful about not clicking the pop ups and dropdown coupons. I just cannot believe this all happened so quickly. I'm kicking myself, as I'm usually really vigilant against things. Alas, one bad download trying to wreck it all.

I definitely hope @Alan MacDonald 's cpu gets fixed. :) I figure he's dealing with this, too, from what he said.

Bless you all! Thank you again!

@Alan MacDonald's cpu is not yet fixed. Thanks for mentioning it, though. Still trying different things.
