Chrome recently received Presentation Mode and other PDF features. Google is trying to add another feature that Chrome lacks when comes to PDFs- the ability to show PDF metadata or document Properties. The chromium team has started working on the feature and is now available in Canary.

Firefox web browser already shows PDF properties when you click on Tools >> and select “Document Properties”.

Third-party PDF Reader Sumatra PDF also shows a PDF’s metadata when your press the Ctrl+D shortcut. Chrome doesn’t have this feature, Google is now trying to add that.

View a PDF Document Properties in Chrome browser
  1. Launch Chrome browser
  2. Load chrome://flags
  3. Search for “PDF Viewer Update” and enable it
  4. Restart the browser
  5. Open any local PDF file or from the web, click on “three-dot”, select “Document Properties”.
For now, the following basic information will be displayed with other details to follow.

As we said above, the feature is WIP, expect Chrome to show the remaining details for a PDF given below, soon.
