Chrome vs. Firefox vs. Edge in 2026

Currently, I have this final ranking in order of security/privacy:

I will use my Firefox browser mainly for online shopping + interacting with various public administrations.
Interacting with the Italian public administration requires not only a PC but also a smartphone + dedicated app and access with an electronic identity card or Public Digital Identity System (SPID), almost always at level 2.

It's a difficult world.....:ROFLMAO:

Both browsers now have the ability to interact with the Public Administration.
Firefox climbs to second place in the rankings:

  1. Chrome + uBo
  2. Firefox + uBo
  3. Chrome + AG

People were complaining that Firefox lacks of sandboxing compared to Chrome... not anymore! Since the last version, Firefox is now equal to Chrome in terms of sandboxing and security.

Another interesting thing is that my personal advanced anti-tracking protection in Firefox does not allow your Reddit frame to be displayed.

You will NOT use a custom setting, correct?;)
I'm using Strict as custom setting actually provides less protection. Though, then you need to add exclusions if you want to see embeds from other social media websites. I added Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit and TikTok embeds as exception.

In my case, this is not necessary; you just need to change the correct values in about:config.
And I don't like to make exceptions for 3p frames considering their possible and potential danger.

Have a good day.(y):)

@Marko :)

I enjoyed having ChatGPT analyze the current difference in sandbox levels between Firefox and Chrome.
The result of the AI analysis is that Firefox (level 9) is almost identical to Chrome's default sandbox level:

My Chrome sandbox (non-default level) is superior to that of Firefox.
Edge in Windows surpasses Chrome's sandbox security level for the Renderer in AppContainer.

It's not a difficult world, and Italian bureaucracy

Maybe this can be achieved in Firefox as well, I don't know. I don't mess with this stuff as it usually have impact on performance or can cause issues. That's why Chrome doesn't have it enabled by default.

No, unfortunately, they cannot be hardened in Firefox.
No problem in Chrome or Edge, when I used Edge.

@Jonny Quest Are you still using Firefox or did you get back to Brave? I'm wondering what was your experience up until now. 😅
Went back to Brave, maybe out of familiarity, and that the cursor/Likes issue on this forum (my favorite forum) was driving me nuts. Sometimes, it doesn't take much for me 😂 But, I do like the ability to customize FF the way I wanted, and the Containers are fantastic :) If the issue of the cursor could be resolved, I'd probably still be using it routinely :)

That might be a job for @Jack. 🙃
