Blog: Windows 365 Switch now available in public preview
Windows 365 Switch provides the ability to easily move between a Windows 365 Cloud PC and the local desktop using the same familiar keyboard commands, as well as a mouse-click or a swipe gesture. Windows 365 Switch enables a seamless experience from within Windows 11 via the Task view feature. Windows 365 will be required on the endpoint, after which all relevant elements will show up automatically inside the Task view feature (see below).

This new round tripping feature is extremely valuable for bring-your-own device (BYOD) scenarios when you connect from your own Windows device to a secure company owned Cloud PC. Especially in times when business wants to do more with less, this is a great experience.

In order to try out Windows 365 Switch, a person must first be able to access their employer's Cloud PC on their Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise computer. Then they have to enroll in the Windows Insider Program. While the Dev channel is supported, the blog post states that signing up for Beta channel updates is the preferred method. They should also get the latest Beta channel build.

Then they can download the Windows 365 app from the Microsoft Store. The app should have the version number of at least 1.3.177.0 or newer.

In case you have been away for the past 24 hours, Microsoft announced a ton of Windows 11 updates that will go live on September 26. As it turns out, two services that have been available as public previews that will make it easier to use Cloud PCs via Windows 365 will also enter general availability on that same date.

In a blog post, Microsoft stated that it will officially offer Windows 365 Boot on September 26 for business and enterprise users. This new feature will allow workers to go to their PC, and head directly to their Cloud PC desktop. Microsoft says:

Come on MS, you can do better. If Cloud PC was widely available, I would be seriously considering paying for MS 365. I do not really need the extra space or office, but the idea is so next gen.
