Hello,
I wanted to add that a shell isn't working message is also popping up. I do graphics and wondered if downloading might have given me this. Today, when I logged onto Comcast, a survey popped up, and then I started having more problem with the Norton threats. My computer has been running hot for the past 2 months, but it is increasing since today.

I went to download the farbar recovery tool, and it said my settings will not allow me to download, so I need to know how to disable or enable my settings to download.

I followed the advice your site offered for this problem. I ran Junk removal that I found on Bleeping Computer site, and so far my fan has not kicked into high yet. Now I need a a virus protection program, because norton must have been disabled.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

Can you download FRST using other browser?

I have a question, because I have more than one user for my computer. The user profile I normally use (Kaiden) seems to have the worse problem. The problem goes away and then the files come back. So far my other user account (Sharon)is working better. Last night I ran adware software AdwCleaner, from bleeping computer. I ran the JRT last night, because I thought that was what the directions were to do to first. After that things were better, but it came back. I just ran it again and now there are 2 dll host.exe., but that happened yesterday and this morning it increased back to at least eleven ( com dll host files). Here is the report from the scan today, and the adware scan from last night.

Hello,
My computer shut down this morning, and when I tried to restart it, it said there was a problem with the boot file. So, several blue screens came up and then it did recovery. I have been trying to get on the internet all day. The dll file keeps multiplying. I have the report from today. I am sorry, this is sporadic but my ability to get on the internet has been awful. My 3 year old grandson is at my house also.

This is from today, what I have been doing is finding the dll host com surrogate and ending the process in the task manager. Sometimes it multiplies and I wish I could get rid of it, but the file location is not there.

Multiple Resident Protection warning!

Always have one (and no more than one!) AntiVirus program! In this case having more of them will not provide you with better protection - instead they may cause slowness, lock-ups and even mark another ones as harmful, leading to leave your system unstable and even damaged. Please choose only one from the listed below to stay with and uninstall the others:
  • AVG Antivirus
  • Norton Security

Uninstallation procedure:
  • Press the
    WindowsKey.png
+ R on your keyboard at the same time. Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
  • Search for each uninstalled entry, right-click it and select Uninstall.
This should be done until any other steps will be taken.

Scan with TDSSKiller

Please download TDSSKiller by Kaspersky and save it to your desktop.

  • Right-click on
    TDSSKiller_Kaspersky.png
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  • Click on Change parameters and put a checkmark beside Loaded modules. A reboot will be needed to apply the changes, allow it to do so.
  • Your machine may appear very slow and unusable after that - it's normal.
  • TDSSKiller will run automaticaly. Click on Change parameters and click OK.
  • Click the Start Scan button and wait patiently.

If anything will be found follow this guidelines:
  • If a suspicious object is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.
  • If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.
Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
If Cure is not available, please choose Skip instead.
  • Do not choose Delete unless instructed!

A report will be created in your root directory, (usually C:\ drive) in the form of TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt. Please include the contents of that file in your next post.

I was not able to save the report from the killer program,it might be somewhere in my computer but I am not able to find it, if you can give me a specific file I can locate it with search. Now, my computer is saving I have an windows that is not genuine. I have no idea if the combo fix worked, and I tried to remove AVG and it seems to be still in my pc, I have Malware Bytes anti spyware, should I uninstall that also, out of the three which one is best? norton, avg, or malware bytes? The only thing working is going into task manager and ending the process tree of dllhost com. It is not in there yet, a powelik threat appears on my screen and then the dllhost multiplies.

Alright. So, I have been able to use one of the user accounts for a couple hours. I logged on as the other user, and came to this site, and went to bleeping computer and the dll exe came back. I deleted AVG. The popup on the bottom of my screen says powelik then the file starts multiplying. Before, Norton kept saying root or boot kit was damage. I will try to find that log, or run it again.

I am trying to do the two things you suggested I added the FRST report from yesterday. I ran it today, but I can't find that report. I searched in C:/ but there was not a report for 11/03.

Alright, so far no dll files are showing up in the task manager. I did notice that two other files crsss.exe and winlogon do not have a location. I am going to hold my breath and hope my computer is alright now.
