We'll find out more in the future, but here is the tease:

I can understand the reasoning behind this. However, with the new Bitdefender app that will be released soon, I think that's unlikely to happen, as the platform was already designed and it's basically ready. Bitdefender App is a cross-platform hub that unifies all Bitdefender services into a single interface. With this, there will be a Services panel that contains all active security features and additional Bitdefender services available with the subscription. The VPN will be part of the integrated services within this platform. This means that it will be possible to connect and change VPN servers, and access advanced VPN settings within this hub, but there will be a split between Security and the VPN.
So you can use it or not, but it will be displayed there in the new Bitdefender.

What stands out in this announcement is that Bitdefender is following the same path as Norton and Kaspersky, which already offer integrated suites with a VPN and security under a single dashboard. The clear advantage is less confusion and faster access to key functions. The challenge, however, will be keeping the app lightweight and flexible for users who prefer managing the VPN separately🔐⚡🌍

Here is an article that explains more about it. I'll post more information as I find out.

Edit: a reply this morning from email Support:
At this time, we are unable to provide a specific release date or availability timeline. Any information regarding the launch, rollout, and download availability of the new app will be announced through our official communication channels as soon as it becomes available.

We recommend keeping an eye on Bitdefender's official website, Bitdefender Central, and our official announcements for the latest updates.

Hope interface will update.

Yes, it will. The new app will have the UI as shown in the link of post #3. It will be the new look of Bitdefender. It will "replace" the versions installed. I'm not totally sure how that process with work, but it will be the new Bitdefender. It will be released in a staged roll out, to confirm any issues with a smaller segment of users, before being more widely rolled out. The backbone, the protection itself, will stay the same.

Here, fixed your GUI, BitDefender. Feel free to PayPal me $10.000 for my hard AI work.

LOL...but trust me oh, oh, famous last words 😅 there are some very helpful and useful additions that this new App covers, which will make it more convenient.

Edit: it may just be about controlling all the devices and apps used by the that user, of the installed apps on devices, without having to go onto the Central online account to manage those, run commands to their other devices from within the app, compared to Admin control/remote actions over other family members installs? (still need to read and learn more)? The Central portal will still be there.

Yikes, glad I jumped ship. The one good thing about Bitdefender was that I could uninstall the stupid VPN component. AV companies have turned the antivirus component into an afterthought and it is disappointing.

It will be interesting to see the feedback they get, as most of the members here are "geeks" and IT, and know what they want, of why, and of what they're looking for. Many of the Bitdefender users may be more in line with the general public users (as well as geeks) who see and hear about Bitdefender from popular websites and online reviews, or are loyal long time users who may appreciate all that this new App offers?

I reckon I can live with it as I have endured McAfee's UI I can now deal with anything, if the product is OK.

Yes, but if it's the idea of "living with it"....I'm not sure on my end. I only have AV Plus installed on one PC, so I don't know how much it's going to sync with, inform me of, or tell me, (show me/ left side panel) what I'm not using like the VPN, SecurePass, Parental Controls? It will be interesting to see.

And I'm just assuming there will be that dark mode option as there is with the app now.

F-Secure has always been pretty spartan about their app, including when they started promoting what was missing from the Internet Security compared to Total, the ghost panels. But that was it, no other pop ups, prompts or upsells other than that.

I cannot endure nor fathom this madness. Most security products have become too bloated. I am waiting for my Eset subscription to expire and I will stick to MD. Tests results show that MD is outperforming most of the security products out there. It is clean and is integrated in the OS, so there is no point in running 3rd party security solutions.

I agree, to many are becoming their own AV operating systems. That is why I still prefer F-Secure, it's the closest thing to me in being unobtrusive, other than MD. But, I'm still a fan of using the browser of my choice (supported browsers) that is protected by the AV app.

Or just use Symantec Endpoint Protection; it’s free and performed really well in recent tests. It blocks almost every phishing email I throw at it, so I’d consider checking it out if you haven’t already.
