Hello Everyone,

Here is the third BETA of CIS 5.8. It is probably the last BETA or RC.

What's new in 5.8.206694.2075?

FIXED! Antivirus updates consumes huge memory
FIXED! Antivirus can crash on bad disk sectors
FIXED! HIPS can be bypassed by certain malware by exploiting trusted applications
FIXED! HIPS doesn't catch certain screen capturing techniques
FIXED! HIPS doesn't catch windows service modifications

There are many other small fixes in this release.

What needs to be tested?

The most important features of this BETA are related to HIPS and AV. So the most valuable bugs are the REPRODUCIBLE bugs which are related to system stability issues, compatibility issues, and crashes.

You are more than welcome to test all other features as well. Please if you observe BSODs, give us the memory dumps.

This update brought some serious fixes....
The new installer looks very good.A word of notice, it would be a good idea to chose 'Customize Installer' (just bellow 'Agree and Install') , when you install CIS because by default COMODO will also install GeekBuddy.

CIS progress bar looks like norton progress bar.

Agree, from the Norton 2011 version installation, its seems they inspired from the installation interface.

Original Link

Comodo RC version was performed an on demand detection test ( based on the link).

We used viruses from the period 9096 July 1 to September 9, 2011 and performed two scans: the first with default settings (euristicul on low) and the second with the settings defined for the best detection possible (euristicul on high).

The first scan detection was 98.33% (8944 viruses detected) and the second 98.54% (8963 viruses detected).
Detection is a more than excellent considering that at least 1100 viruses were collected in the last week, so very new.

yes the AV module is very strong now. CIS is now a real challenger to KIS, NIS and co.

COMODO Internet Security 5.8.206694.2075 BETA, is currently very stable and running just fine on my windows 7 OS 64 bit..........

Once Inspect site is integrated CIS will have a "web-filer/shield" that many if so important....

Comodo already has secure DNS server, which is better than web filer.....My opinion...

Third-Party DNS could slow down your browsing so a Web Filter is a better option if they will optimize it not to slow down web browsing.

Web guard uses ports so it could not affect the browsing activity.
